Obligatory

Well since it hasn't been brought up and I'm a total homer, gotta give some love to Great Lakes. The Edmund Fitzgerald is probably the best porter I've ever had and my favorite year-round beer from them. As far as seasonals go (the Christmas Ale is the fan-favorite, and it is really good), their current one, Conway's Irish Ale is delicious. The Lake Erie Monster IPA and Blackout Stout are both amazing as well.

Never got any Christmas Ale this year. Went to the brewery though last time I was in Cleveland for the tour/tasting. Definitely good stuff.

Yeah the brewery is pretty awesome. They have a bunch of good pub-only brews that I've barely even scratched the surface of (only been there a couple times).

I could absolutely tell them apart. I've been given Coors lt by accident and sent it back.

As far as microbrew brands go my go-to's are Stone, Founders, Peak, Southern Tier, Abita, Harpoon.

Ok so you can, but the point was that a lot of people develop the loyalty through advertising, when there isn't much that's different about a watered down version of a boring style.

Scott Weber 02/03/12 10:15 AM

i guarantee you i could tell miller light from bud light and coors. coors and bud light would be tougher but i'm pretty sure i could do that too.

You guys try different beers though...

I wish they weren't so regional...I can't even find them in stores here in DC. They were my favorite when I went to school up in that area. Also, have you ever had this one: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/73/34164

I imagine its only served at their tap room occasionally

I probably couldn't, but only because its been a few years since I've had either, and I'm not even sure I've ever had Coors. I could definitely pick PBR and Miller High Life out, but the rest would all be too similar I'm guessing. Though, they are completely different beer styles (ale, lager)

Yeah, I think that one's only available at the brewery/restaurant. I've not had it but it sounds tasty. I'm not actually sure if I've ever even tried a RyePA anywhere, come to think of it.

yep. leighton was a pretty good friend of mine. he was helping out with ableton last year a bunch when I wanted to learn the program.

I can't believe how popular they are.
