crystalised 12/08/10 07:17 AM

I can't believe he died so long before I was born. I only just realized how truly ahead of it's time his music was.

Meeze 12/08/10 07:32 AM

can only imagine the state of music today if he did not get murdered. RIP

Same here. Great man, great musician.

Rest in peace John, always.

poserscenemokid 12/08/10 08:09 AM

What's sad is, in an interview Sirhan Sirhan stated the only reason he killed Lennon was because he thought he would be "famous for being the man who killed John Lennon." He was quite wrong...

I really wish I have been alive to remember him...R.I.P John, you'll always be missed.

TheRealJohnOC 12/08/10 08:38 AM

Gotta be the one. I never got the appeal of The Beatles and why kids today are so into them. At all. I mean if you grew up with them since the beginning (in the 1960s) that's understandable but I feel modern music has grown leaps and bounds since then and honestly everything I've ever heard from them is boring (IN MY OPINION) and druggy sounding.

No one deserves to be murdered so I am very sorry that his life ended as such. But I feel that Yoko has always done her share to drag this out. Not even now (a 30 year year anniversary is understandable) but she's seriously always pushing her stupid ass to the forefront in the media to make it well known that "he was a legend and everyone should know it."

just.Starla. 12/08/10 06:48 PM

Rest in peace, John.

I'd take a second listen, everything they did is incredible, and I can't imagine anyone not enjoying Abbey Road. They're just too good.

I will, though I heard the "white album" in its entirety and just did not care for it.

Gumbyjag 12/08/10 10:20 PM

rest in peace.

Many people have said this to me, and then I play them the right tracks (cause the Beatles dabbled in tons of genres) and could at least find a few tracks that they agreed are genius.

You're probably right. I'm mean I'm not trying to be a douche or anything I just never found them to be that compelling.

No? He was totally 100% correct. 30 years later, most people above the normal idiot know who he is because of the murder. I'd say that was a victory for him if that were his actual goal.

With that said the legacy of John Lennon is nothing like the actual sarcastic hilarious asshole that he really was, and he'd probably be dead by now anyway. Either that or sharing the super bowl half time with christina aguilera.

Better to burn out than fade away imo...

The white album has some amazing song, "Blackbird," "Julia," "I'm So Tired," and so on, but it's one of my lesser favorites of theirs. Try "With The Beatles" for pop rock, "A Hard Day's Night" for more rock-y stuff, "Magical Mystery Tour" for drugs/amazing songs, or "Abbey Road" for their final, most popular, and probably 'best' record.
