Colin Meloy For Broadway
Colin Meloy (The Decemberists) is in talks with the director of the broadway version of Green Day's American Idiot to write a musical.

I would definitely pay to see this. As much as people hate Green Day, their musical was really well done.

I think the Decemberists were meant to be heard in a musical format.

think this would translate well to the stage, i'm just afraid that this is going to create a huge surge of shitty bands that follow along and try to create musicals. not all music can translate to broadway

Yeah, because THAT musical is doing so well. As much as I love the Decemberists, I'm not sure about this being successful.

Basically this same story came up when Spring Awakening debuted and was wildly successful. I was super pumped but then never heard anything about it again. Hopefully this means something will actually come of it. That was several years ago now.
