:( obligatory but still sincere sad face. Saw these guys open for MCS several times and they always rocked it.

Had a feeling this would happen after that awful last album.
Very disappointing though, love these guys. The Tide and Appreciation and The Bomb are two of the most emotional songs I've heard.

I love sunsets and car crashes so so much, but ice never really gotten into anything after it. Still a huge bummer

aradiantsunrise 01/19/11 02:23 PM

Not surprising.

pleasedontpanic 01/19/11 02:23 PM

Bummed, but it feels like this is a long time coming.

This.

Appreciation and the Bomb is my jam.

I think we all kind of saw this coming. Sucks since they are/were one of my most influential bands.
I do find the title of the article somewhat amusing though ("local band The Spill Canvas says...")

WordsAndFears 01/19/11 02:27 PM

well shit this sucks. i was just thinking about these dudes the other day, and wondering what had happened to them...damn.

Same. I remember when that CD came out and I used "The Tide" as an example of a song with storytelling in a high school class. Such a good song.

Kinda thought this already happened. Love this band for what it was, but yea it was definitely time to move on.

bobsheiskawy 01/19/11 02:34 PM

wow, that's terrible. nick's one of my favorite vocalists and they wrote some incredibly solid albums. i was really holding out for at least another record, considering that they were supposed to have been recording it and all we got were eps. hopefully it's a short hiatus.

applesandcyanid 01/19/11 02:37 PM

So bummed about this. Band never got the credit they deserved.

irthesteve 01/19/11 02:39 PM

1. That sucks
2. Not surprised after the terrible release plan for their last 2 EPs then compilation thing
3. How can you actually be on hiatus when at the core it's just one dude?

PopPunkKid 01/19/11 02:40 PM

What bums me out most about this is that they had SO much potential to make their last album killer. Realities and Abnormalities both had some really good pop songs on them, but for the full length, for some reason they chose such a misplaced, random tracklisting, and left off some of the best tracks from those EP's. Don't know what the Fuck they were thinking, honestly. But really, this is a shame, because they were a solid band, even though I'm in the minority that enjoyed their later stuff moreso than the early, more acoustic stuff.
