why am i not going to one of these shows?

jsm158 04/26/11 08:58 PM

The only song missing from that setlist is Sink. Sink is an amazing experience live.

NarcolepsySmile 04/26/11 08:58 PM

Want sad songs.

don't fret 04/26/11 08:58 PM

Would like to see a ten year reunion show of yfw....

AgainstTheCurrent 04/26/11 08:58 PM

It would make sense for their next work to be happier, I actually predicted this. I've always though their music follows the "5 stages of grief"

Can't wait.

MichaelShore 04/26/11 09:01 PM

Wish I could have been there to see them.

also, this is arguably my favorite brand new set i've ever seen. Add play crack the sky, me vs maradona, and mixtape and i'd be set.

Agreed. I like how they mostly don't play songs from Daisy at all.

heyimnic 04/26/11 09:06 PM

My perfect happy Brand New song is untitled 1 off "fight off your demons."

I am glad, I am glad you found a good man.

Mr.Kilgannon 04/26/11 09:06 PM

That set.. just wow. I really hope they come back to Michigan so I can finally see them. And honestly, I'd kill to see Good to Know.. live. I wish they'd play that more.

Bingo. Look at mewithoutYou.

SwedishHeat 04/26/11 09:07 PM

Certainly they could more uplifting songs than a girl with her capa detated.

Awesome. Thanks for letting me and everyone else know. They played for a 100 minutes and still cut a song? Damn, that's great. I didn't think I could be more hyped up for Friday but now I am.

I'm not really sure what the reason for them not playing it was...something about the drummer not being able to play it or something like that. Either way, the concert was fucking unreal. I've never seen a room more excited to see a band before in my life.

This is exactly what I was thinking! I remember putting in the Kubler-Ross graph in the BN thread a couple of months ago, it makes perfect sense now if they're trying to write something happy.

dsmil 04/26/11 09:08 PM

What a great show, the mix of songs was great and so was the crowd

bojl 04/26/11 09:09 PM

wut

rawspinner 04/26/11 09:09 PM

The set list seems to be a majority Deja Entendu which seems strange but cool. Hopefully they come through Toronto some time in the future.

Asthenia-182 04/26/11 09:10 PM

I'd like to see you try.

k1guitar 04/26/11 09:12 PM

i hate to say "fuck being happy" but some people write the best stuff pissed off. just like when some bands start to sober up then immediately start sucking.

The setlist is mostly Deja and TDAGARIM songs, which makes perfect sense. It's Brand New at their very best.

get up kidd 04/26/11 09:12 PM

Fucking sick set list. Would have loved to see this.

That is because it's there best album. Just sayin.

lessthanzero 04/26/11 09:14 PM

I think I am more excited for another tour. Jesse Lacey is a weird cat which makes me kind of nervous of his definition of "happy".

I think the daisy songs don't translate well live, at least in videos. I am yet to witness brand new live since I moved here from brazil not too long ago, but I'd hope their set is filled with Deja and some of the better songs from devil and god, I also wish they'd play some demos like untitled one

NateFoundGlory 04/26/11 09:21 PM

It's really sad how fucking happy the existence of this thread alone makes me. Goddamn I need to see Brand New live. And if/when they come around, I hope they keep that setlist...it's perfect.

anamericangod 04/26/11 09:22 PM

Very good set list.

Hopefully they keep it for the next tour, that way I can show up 20 minutes late and only have missed the five horrible opening songs.

donwagenblast 04/26/11 09:23 PM

Fuck yes.

Matt Chylak 04/26/11 09:24 PM

wish I had tickets for tomorrow. DAMN

Poochemist 04/26/11 09:24 PM

Hey maybe my wife will start listening to them. She hates how sad their stuff is, so she doesn't like hearing it in the car.

KingsCrossing 04/26/11 09:25 PM

That set list is excellent.

I guess they are past the promoting stages for Daisy. But I guess I thought that they were in a Deja hate stage, which may not have actually existed.

The Brews 04/26/11 09:28 PM

only 3 songs from daisy? disappointing.

SoundwaveUproar 04/26/11 09:29 PM

I want Brand New to write a Brand New record. I don't want Brand New to write a happy record... unless they're you know, happy writing it.

Thomas Nassiff 04/26/11 09:31 PM

Holy balls I would love seeing that setlist.

Heaven5ent 04/26/11 09:34 PM

the show tonight was fucking awesome!

newport21 04/26/11 09:36 PM

hehehe... I don't so understand :)

This.

Fringe 04/26/11 09:40 PM

Thank goodness. In this past year, I've been making a lot of progress on becoming a more positive person, so it'll be amazing that my favorite band can follow suit.

katiedontcryx41 04/26/11 09:41 PM

killer setlist. sigh. fuckin' jealous. but hmmmm, happy lacey is a first.

Emmure408 04/26/11 09:44 PM

Your Favorite Weapon TWO :-)

ramomcferno 04/26/11 09:44 PM

Pretty awesome setlist. I want to see these guys live soon.

petethemeat 04/26/11 09:44 PM

I love when fans get all in crazy over one thing he said. He probably already forgot he said it...or he was fucking with everyone. It's Jesse Lacey..I don't think its possible for him to write a "happy" song. Whatever the fuck that means.

The Gunz Show 04/26/11 09:50 PM

awesome set list

playing both Jude and 70x7?
havent heard that live in a while

even when they did YFW live last year, they skipped 70x7...

stoked to see brand new playing again.

awesome

although

one of my favorite songs is "play crack the sky"
( this song is old but it goes on and on until we disappear)

KenFleet 04/26/11 09:54 PM

At the risk of sounding like a jack-hole... I hated Daisy. I missed that perfect band that shaped my life so much in the years of YFW, Deja and even for a lot of DAGARIM. This is some of the most exciting news I've heard from a band that used to sit firmly in my top three.

wayfarer 04/26/11 09:55 PM

this show was a horrendous fucking joke. sorry to be a downer. wish i could've enjoyed it.
