And they are a gimmick. They have set a little sand trap and teenagers/fans of poor cheesy music have fallen in.

Paramore would be a gimmick band if they only played covers or only wore matching jumpsuits. That's what a gimmick is. A pop-rock band is not a gimmick band because you think they are "cheesy." There is a great difference between your personal dislike for a sound and what these bands really are.

According to Mapquest Nashville is 22 miles away from Franklin so I guess that would be pretty much the same scene. I don't think they were expecting the audience to know them, if they were she didn't say that in the interview.

And if you say so

You're cool. Where are you from in MD? I may have asked you that before...I can't remember.

Exactly. Which every band has to do, so why would they make a big deal out of it?

And when she says "first few shows before we got signed" I wonder how many shows that actually was. Since they are of course a gimmick band.

wtf, how are they a "gimmick" band? a "gimmick" band is more along the lines of say, Evanescence....get that "gimmick" crap out of here, seriously...

i want to blow up a toilet.

Thanks! Anything with dynamite sounds awesome.

Agree with Julia - you may not like their music, but if you're implying that they're a gimmick band just because they have a female lead singer, that's ludicrous.

Scott Weber 05/25/07 05:16 PM

This band seems like they'd be such an easy target to be hated on, but the way they conduct their interviews and treat their fans make it impossible. Regardless of what I think of their music (I admit I like a few songs), they seem like rad, down to earth people.

I'm just amazed that you can read a whole interview, with her name written out numerous times, and yet you still can't spell 'Hayley'

yogurtmat 05/25/07 05:26 PM

Pretty much.
I don't know why she would take so much time to bitch about Paramore.

Nice interview.

But horrible band. Theyre a gimmick. They make bland music with very little staying power.

word.

i think having a "cute" female lead singer basically puts them in the same genre as avril lavigne and company, not because i'm generalizing, but because that's how the fans have made them out to be. before this interview, i had no fucking clue about a single band member's name, despite being a pretty huge band, especially on ap.net. they might as well name the band hayley _______, because it seems like that's all anyone talks about. whether they were a gimmick band from the start or not, it doesn't really matter, because they've become one. just find the fucking thread where ap was asking for interview questions. so many of them are 16-21 year olds wanting to fuck hayley, stating how hot she is, etc. that's how this band has been since they got fucking signed.

and at the end of the day, they make shitty music, in my opinion.

I live in Cockeysville and no I don't think you have asked me before. I see you are promoting (or whatever you call it) the Dropout Year CD release show. Im thinking about going to it

Dan CiTi 05/25/07 07:57 PM

I like blowing up stuff!

Yeah this band is really some thing. They are just real cool/down to earth folks.
