....yeah, what he said.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/8...fs-this-season I love looking back at this kind of stuff.

According to Dreger, TML could've gotten 1st rounders for Grabo, Schenn, Kuli, and Mac.

Why would anyone have a problem with Howson asking for good young players? I have no issue with the Rangers, Sharks, or anyone not yielding to the Jackets demands. But I have no issue with them setting a high price either - wouldn't you want your GM to do the same if dealing your best player?

If you had to trade your teams best player, wouldn't you want your GM to get established young roster players in return rather than just a bunch of prospects and Brandon Dubinsky? I actually like Dubi but you don't trade Rick Nash and the only sure thing you get in return is a "streaky grinder with offensive upside"

What do you expect to get in return for Nash? Name a possible Rangers or Sharks trade you would agree with.

No team is going to give you back a player close to the level of Nash, plus propects and picks in a deal.

That Ranger offer is highway robbery for Columbus. You sign a top guy in the offseason if possible.

Howson is never going to get as good of a deal as that Ranger offer.

PigDestroyer 02/27/12 02:41 PM

getting Brandon Dubinsky and a team's non-top prospects isn't highway robbery.

That deal wasn't nearly as great as you make it sound.

PigDestroyer 02/27/12 02:45 PM

Curious to the reaction from Vancouver fans on that Hodgson trade, I saw them flipping out on boards at the thought of losing him in a Nash deal, and now they traded him for Zack Kassian

if you go back a few pages they are not pleased.

Dude, again. You're not going to get a top line player and top picks for Nash. He's simply not worth that much.

You settle for a mid-level guy and some risks in prospects. That's all you're going to get.

Nash is a 60-point guy.

yes, he will. adding up a bunch of second tier prospects doesn't equal the value that kreider had in that deal. he was the centerpiece and there was no way nash was moving without him.

nash's value is still solid NHL player + top prospect + 1st rounder. despite the number of guys in the NYR proposal it didn't equal that.

Pretty much everyone on the internet, minus a few Ranger hater trolls here think Howson is an idiot for rejecting the deal.

As soon as you said that the Rangers could get Ovechkin for that group, I lol'd and wrote off any opinion you might have about anything sports related. So yeah.

He won't.

More teams in the offseason are going to be gunning for free agents and resigning their talent.

Howson played this whole thing like a fucking idiot, and he'll get ripped to shit by the media. He has to get rid of Nash and teams will be lowballing him from here on out. No one is going to give in to Howson's demands.
