Atom Leaves Angels and Airwaves

Atom Willard has 'amicably' left Angels and Airwaves.
Press ReleaseAngels and Airwaves (AVA) have announced that they have parted ways with their original drummer Atom Willard. Willard, a founding member of AVA, joined the band in 2005 along with Dave Kennedy under the leadership of Tom Delonge. Willard states "It's been a great six years and I feel privileged to have worked with these musicians I call my friends. While I will miss them, it is an amicable split and I look forward to this next chapter in my life. I truly wish the guys much success in the future."

Angels and Airwaves are based in San Diego while Willard lives in Los Angeles. AVA's fourth full length album "Love II" is due out 11/11/11 and will feature drum tracks by Willard.

Damn this sucks...I think Atom got sick of making "AVA" style music.

Viking Wizard 10/04/11 03:32 PM

He's got a new project with Matt Skiba but that sounded more like a side project...

This is beat. His drumming made the band complete

You know what'd be funny? If Travis took over on drums and then they're all like "Fuck this, Box Car Racer is back". That would never happen though...
