I always hate commenting on posts on these kinds of topics because so many people take things so out of context and get so angry.

i think there's another reason why kanye was letting simmons talk for him.

Came in here to say this.

I don't know enough about Simmon's views to comment on him but I think criticizing Kanye for being the "1%" or how much his clothes cost while being there is a bit uninformed. Just because he makes a lot of money doesn't mean he can't support a cause just because he's not in their income bracket. Regardless of the money he has, he has continued to speak for the poor and underprivileged in his music. Not to say that he couldn't give more to the people or spend less or brag less about what he has or whatever argument you want to bring up, but he's one of the last people I would say is repressing the 99%. I realize I'll catch heat for this.

Pretty understandable response. Very well put.

isn't what simmon said exactly the opposite of what these people want?

if you are protesting for more social fairness, less expensive healthcare, higher taxes on the rich, more affordable education, stricter regulation of the financial sector, limits on executive payments... that's calling for more government, correct me if i'm wrong.

Agreed! Its great that you at least took a second to fully form and voice your view. He can support whoever he wants to and if in then end it helps in any positive way, measurable or not then it doesn't matter how much he makes.

I don't think its calling for more government, rather a reform in government that shifts its emphasis to those changes and less on others. I also understand that there are many concerns pressing our country right now so deciding what the emphasis should shift away from is not easy task. Time added to one place is time taken from another.

definietely a reform of government, but a change in policies that benefit the lower and middle class is only possible through stronger government in my opinion. i don't see large corporations, banks and rich people just voluntarily support people that are less well off, voluntarily limit exucutive compensation, voluntarily pay more taxes, or voluntarily invest in free education..

I thought it was about people wanting corporations to get out of politics?
