Can't see gif. I'm sure it was a nice one, though.

By the way, some people are missing that this isn't the completed version. This was the first run-through with her laptop (click through to YouTube then the RS link in the description). I'd say it's a safe bet that the finished version won't have the sobbing and heavy breathing.

It's a loop of Edward Norton punching himself in the face in Fight Club.

See, Ke$ha actually has a good voice, her music is fun and catchy, but has terrible lyrics. My flat mate is the biggest Ke$ha fan ever, so it's just played constantly, and it really gets in your head.

However, I really like this, her voice sounds very good.
Expected it to be done in her style, synths and elctroish and what not...

Now, Bring on the abuse...

I'm pretty sure she is crying, sounds a lot like it, which would explain the breathing slightly.

Ugh. The majority of that comp was so lame.

I enjoyed it.

Also, I've heard way worse stuff from bands/artists who claim they worked years on to perfect.

Ke$ha genuinely loves classic rock/alternative artists so I'm not quite sure why anyone said she was doing this for some "cred" or whatever bullshit reason you think she's doing it for.

That could explain it.....it gives the song emotion, since it was just her singing with a little violin here and there.

This is actually quite good. I've moderately enjoyed some of her stuff, but didn't think she'd do this solid a job straight-singing. It's a bit affected, but I'm not sure anyone else has ever done a version that emphasizes the dramatic potential of the song this well. It usually gets read as a sarcastic kiss-off. Both takes are cool.

Have a suspicion half the people in this thread didn't listen.

It's that time in the thread when a few people start claiming to "actually like this" and that it's "pretty good" ... this is then followed by the "Band X that AP.net has posted about in the past sucks worse" -- this is my favorite part!!

I guarantee that if people heard this without being told it was Ke$ha, they would've liked it. She has a relatively solid voice outside of autotune. There are far worse things out there.

Doubt it's even thread of the day. Predictably mildly amusing gifs.

That's a pretty bold statement.

And when your qualifications are "relatively solid voice" and "far worse things out there" -- that's not saying much.

Understandable. But these people are reacting like it's a dubstep remix of a Dylan song or something. I had the same reaction; I rolled my eyes and everything. Then I listened to it. I expected it to be some club "jam" with re-worded lyrics about oral sex but it was a simple cover. Clearly getting assaulted on the internet by strangers for voicing a thought is in these days.

You're taking it completely the wrong way. Clearly this thread has become (and started out as) a joke. Anyone who voices a legitimate opinion right now knows they're open to ridicule.
