For some that cracked my shit up.

I hate the temptation knowing this is already leaked. I 100% am buying the album when it drops, but I wanna hear it. Le sigh.

This song was not very good. That whole crap raining down part was terrible. Disappointing.

Comment of the year.

Probably a dumb question but how the hell does an album like this leak 2 months early now days? :/ They kept S/T under wraps completely.

I have such a desire to listen but on the other hand I feel guilty. Takes away the suspense and hype leading up to release.

amymarissa 01/13/12 04:29 PM

It feels like people are cutting down the song almost because they feel like it's the expected thing to do.

I love the studio version of "Say Anything". So energetic. Hopefully the rest of the album is that good, listening now.

coma 01/13/12 05:09 PM

Guys, skip the thread.

It consists entirely of:

"What? This doesn't sound enough like IARB. Therefore it's simply not good."

as well as a dash of:

"Oh, I'm listening to this with a fairly open mind, therefore it is not bad at all."

Oh and also a dash of, "This is childish and immature. Max shouldn't write angry music towards hipsters. It makes him come off as bitter."

and a whole whopping dollop of:

"I just peed out of my butt, that's how tasty this record is."

Oh, with an delightful sidebar of:

"Destination: Beautiful > The Everglow > Destination: Beautiful>"

Mistle 01/13/12 05:24 PM

Just finished listening.
Max wasn't kidding when he said he was going for a "clean" sound. Hardly any distorted guitars. 70% of the album is mid-tempo jams.
That said, they are good mid-tempo jams lol. I really enjoyed them! I just wasn't expected the album to sound like this. I thought it was going to be really loud and anthemic, and it's not. And I don't know, maybe I would have preferred that.
The first few songs are energetic, then it gets soft for like the whole middle of the album, with spikes of energy. the last track picks up the energy a bit in cool ways. but it fades out. the last track FADES OUT ._____. lol. bad decision, i do not like when albums finish with a fade..
overall i dug it. not disappointed. it's just different.. max knows how to write good songs of this style, so they're a pleasure to listen to. but it really could have done with a lot more hard-hitting songs, what say anything are best at. and this album just doesn't have them sadly :/
what it does have though is really catchy, bouncy, snappy, sometimes soft songs. and they're pretty damn good! there are definitely some songs that i know i will love on repeat listens and songs that I already love (one of those being "say anything". that song is one of my instant favourites).
so overall i think it's a brilliant album, it's just so different than I was expecting (and different from anything SA have done in the past). So once that surprise kind of settles, and the longing for some more distorted guitars and fast-tempos, I'm sure I'll enjoy the album even more than I do already :D

(m) orning + (a)fternoon = As good as "D:B." (e)vening's mediocrity I blame on the band getting all of their stuff stolen and having to write rather quick.

And dear God, let Pritchard's brief-but-bitter affair with Max die. We didn't need to resurrect that terrible corpse.

When I was listening I couldn't help but think that this sounded exactly like the s/t album. It's like the band didn't progress at all. All the 'mid-tempo jams' are just like "Eloise" or "Cemetery" or "Death For My Birthday". I dunno, I was not very impressed. There isn't even one chorus that I can faintly remember (other than Burn A Miracle because I had heard it before) after listening to the album two times through.

really I listened to the album and feel it definitely drew similarities to their self title but did not remind me of that album that much at all. I don't think it exactly sounds like their old stuff. It honestly feels like a fusion of all their work. Definitely midtempo but it is way more aggressive and wild then self title. I hope it grows on you cause it is a different album for them.

album is booooorrring. i miss the randomness.
