Clips from Hit the Light's New Album
|

Sounds like there's quite a bit of slow songs. I can def see what nick meant when he said there'd be heavier songs. Can't wait to listen to the full cd.
|
these clips do no justice, i want the whole cd nowwwww

Someone skipped school and found out how to use a DELAY PEDAL! I am really trying to like these clips, real hard. Huge fan of everything they've released. Drove to bamboozle 08 to see them play with Nick for the first time as the singer..in short showing my dedication.. this is just weird. Makes me wonder how many delay pedals they had running through that soundboard. It's not weird cause it's different, its truly weird...It's just all that delay..and song structure? If you take the delay out on the verses and add their palm muting, fills, and rock based solos you got yourself a HTL record. The chorus's? mostly drop D's 3 chord build.. back to delay. analogy? That really hot girl at a bar with the worst personality. It's hard not to like HTL and we're all gonna try to like this record with a real bad personality just because of their appeal. It looks like a one night stand for me.

Take control is the only song that sounds somewhat like old HTL. Still dig the direction cant wait for my vinyl!
|
I think I'm gonna preorder my vinyl of this today.

I refuse to listen till i get my vinyl

Frankly I think I've already heard enough.

This sounds pretty good. I wish it were a different band's songs though. I like my Hit The Lights to sound like Hit The Lights. Hopefully this is just them going through a phase because they're in their mid 20's and they feel like they need their sound to "mature".
|
I WAS pumped for this record after the guys released the EP, but now, I'm not so sure. I know it was stated above ("the clips don't do it justice"), but I'm hoping there's more to this record than what the clips are teasing at. It's not typical HTL, which is what I wanted in the first place, but I'm not sure I was expecting the rest of the album to sound this far off from the original 3 songs released. It'll be a grower album I think.. it won't hit me right away.
|
Get To You sounds fantastic.... can't wait. Ps, where is the review for this record?
|
Could this be their 'Coming Home?'

It's kinda hard to listen to those clips... i agree with all the comments about the delay pedals, it just feels there is so much stuff over the top of the song. It's like one of those girls who wears about 5 inches of makeup on her face and it really does her no good but she thinks she looks real swell. Really reminds me the way All Time Low have went. Both bands started out with amazing records and then the slowly transitioned into this weird world of what i can only explain is well polished pop/(rock?) music. I gotta wait for the new album to come out to really judge i guess but im so bored of these kinda songs. |
I respect any band that explores new sounds. Hit the Lights could easily stick with the same sound and never grow (All Time Low, Angels and Airwaves).
This sounds different, but not too different, which is good. I'll definitely be checking this out. |

Charlie sheen! |
So far, my favourite clip was definitely Take Control.
Anyone else notice the production on this record seems almost like "demo" quality? The reverb wash makes it difficult to really connect with the vocal performance (which is still a strong, mature performance). I felt very much the same about the Invitca EP. "All the Weight" sounded like it was a home-recorded demo or something. Having said that, I LOVED Gravity. |

I would pay for NFG to do another coming home |
I have a HTL demo from 2004 or older which has a few tracks that made it to the Until We Get Caught EP. There was a uniqueness to the style of those songs which I personally don't feel they have captured since then (example Head Over Heels, demo version of the song This Is A Stick Up). Like ATL and many others, they have added more "pop" release after release. Don't get me wrong they make stellar tracks and I am interested in hearing these songs in full, I just really dig that style.

They are selling the CD and vinyl on their tour with DRUGS.
Listening to it now... |

Coming Home is one of those rare records where a band tried something different and I ended up liking it. I have a feeling Invicta will be similar. I love the first few songs. |
This sounds pretty interesting. Definitely different for HTL.

Gravity is still my fav songs out of the bunch they've released so far. I've got big hopes and great expectations, for this record, I think it's gonna be really good.

Oh haha I wasn't sure if it was approv or disapproval. Internet high-five! |
i'd give anything to have Colin back..

Got the album last night at the Chicago stop of the tour. It rules. I think whoever described it as their "Coming Home" may have hit it on the head.
|
love this album. gonna be so good. HTL is back baby.
nick's vocals are awesome and i love how the drums sound in this. - Gunz |
Pretty sure Chris has made that same joke before...give it a rest already, haha.
|
Sounds awesome to me, actually - particularly the first half. I enjoyed HTL but always found their sound pretty formulaic. This is at least a new formula, even if "All the Weight" sounds like a Coheed b-side for the first 15 seconds.
"Should've Known," "Take Control" and "Earthquake" sound like the balls. I'll buy this. Nice job gents. EDIT: Just realized why "Earthquake" sounds so good to me - it's at least a first cousin to "Deep South" by Cartel, which is a fucking jam. |
Been way too long a wait for this thing.

"Tell Me again how we're easily forgettable So formulaic and way too simple to be at all original, yea so we've heard It's time to keep your mouth shut While we show you how to rock-n-roll" Sorry I had to do it haha |
Is that Vasoli's voice I hear on Invincible?
|
I'm liking what I hear. "Get To You" sounded great.

oh god, what is happening to this band now?
|
this album reeks of Machine production.... and i love it!

Ok so some of us arent completely musically inclined to know but how do i tell if theres something called a delay pedal? I totally love Hit The Lights and if theyre going in a bit of a different direction for this album, then so be it. Theres nothing wrong for trying to grow musically and change here and there. Green Day has done the same thing for the past 20 years. Not saying HTL is on the same page or level as Green Day tho. Jus saying sometimes change can be good.
LOL i just rambled on there, sorry. If someone can answer the delay pedal question tho, would appreciate it. |
