I don't feel like quoting every prick in here, but people DO have different musical tastes than you.

Blah blah why didn't (insert generic band here) make the list?

jdr277 01/30/12 05:16 PM

Pretty decent list. Not a fan of the rankings, but a lot of the bands I'm looking forward to made it, mostly (Modest Mouse, Shins, MeWithoutYou, Fun.) but I understand Pop Punk rules here lol. Although, I thought that Right Away! Great Captain would make the list, it's the freaking end of the trilogy and WILL be out soon, and Bad Books 2, Oh Well.

That might (and I'm stressing might) be true, but obviously it's not just that. Muse came in at 17, and they're much bigger. Green Day, Linkin Park, Springsteen: all bigger. Obviously none of those bands probably have the audience overlap with AP.net that Paramore does, but still -- it's surprising to see Paramore at #1.

No one knows if Green Day is releasing an album (and their last album was a pretty massive disappointment in hindsight). Linkin Park hasn't been mainstream popular in forever. And Springsteen isn't followed much here. And Muse? I don't know a single person, besides myself, that even knows their name in the general public.

black veil brides? seriously?

TommyGonzalez7 01/30/12 05:26 PM

Why is Black Veil Brides up there?

Muse is easily one of the biggest rock bands on the planet today.

Eh, we're arguing semantics here now I think. I guess I'll concede Paramore is the biggest (in the mainstream popularity definition) band that people on AP care about. And evidently a lot of people know Muse, but maybe they just don't live in America.

The Blaqk Audio album isn't TBA, it's titled 'Bright Black Heaven'

Not in America it would seem.

MyFriendsOver 01/30/12 05:37 PM

Didn't realize a new Linkin Park album was coming in 2012, but that will prove interesting. Some of my top picks are Yellowcard, Anberlin and MxPx.

I will say though, all three of those could be easily trumped if we could add one more name to the list: The Starting Line. In fact at this point, I think pretty much anything could be trumped by TSL.

Maybe not, but they're definitely (getting) up there. They sell millions (MILLIONS!) over in Europe though.
Hell, they won a Grammy a couple of years ago, didn't they? And that's might as well be a popularity contest, haha.

I know tons of people who know Muse. Maybe it's a demographic thing, but they're all over the radio here. Or at least on the alternate station. Even my friend's 50-something year old mom listens I then.

Why isn't Dragonforce in the #1 spot?

What the hell, people? what the HELL
