Really love how musically ambitious this album is. The only song I don't like is Stars.

Either way that's a big conclusion to jump to. I don't find these pop songs boring. The majority of the site seem to come to the conclusion that these pop songs aren't bland. To say that we find it okay that they write bland pop songs because they're indie is stupid. You find them bland and that's your opinion. None of us have said anything that contributes to what you have said.

I'm cool with your opinion on the album and everything and can understand why you don't like the album but from what I understand that post seemed kind of pompous. From what I understand, you're saying that if someone like say Adam Lambert released this exact album or fun. was already super mainstream, we wouldn't be digging it. If thats not what you're saying I apologize. If that was what you meant, I don't get it. Good music is good music.

In a sense that IS what I meant. I know not everyone is as hypocritical but I feel a lot of people on this site are. There's good mainstream music but it gets ignored by folks on AP because it IS mainstream. Again, I know not everyone is like that.

Ok. I understand. Sorry I was a bit of a dick. I know a lot of people on this site who do like mainstream music including me so I took a little offense to it. I don't like that 'mainstream' is a dirty word either but what can you do? Play them FutureSex / LoveSounds and hope they dig it. I dunno. I wish people could like music without feeling the need to label it all the time.

I don't get why everyone is hating on It Gets Better. Honestly, it's supposed to be a short fun pop song, and it's pretty damn catchy.

Maybe if people would start phrasing opinions as "I don't care for that song" instead of "that song sucks" we could be in a better world.

This album has not floored me and I'm desperately trying to love it, but I'm just not that into it. Maybe I need to give it a few more listens...

The album is great, but "It Gets Better" is NOT a short, fun pop song. It's a god damn underwritten, atrociously produced, HUGE, muddled mess of a song...AND with uncommonly average lyrics from Nate, one of our generation's best lyricists/vocalists. No excuses. It's just a shitty experiment that turned out terribly. The rest of the album is an experiment that turned out pretty great.

I've grown to like most of the verses, but some of the choruses still rub me the wrong way with some simple overdone cliches. Just my opinion though.

Listened to this for the first time last night. I hated fun.'s first album and I was never all that into the Format, but this shit is right up my alley. Honestly, I woke up excited to listen to it again, which is a feeling I've very rarely gotten from an album.
