Hip-Hop Music Round-Up (02/26/12)
Head to the replies to read this week's Hip-Hop Music Round-Up.
|
Thanks to Roshan for putting this together.
|
Supergroup with Common, Nas and Q-Tip? Amazing.
Would love a new Andre 3000 album as well. I'll give the Chiddy Bang album a listen, but I don't have high expectations. |
Chiddy Bang fucking blows.
That supergroup sounds so money. Q-Tip is my favorite rapper. Can't wait for his new solo record, too. You're soooo edgy dissing Chris Brown. |
Also
Hodgy Beats, Domo Genesis and Tyler, The Creator released a new video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fN-xq7t6pKw ...and Hodgy Beats released a new EP on oddfuture.com a few days ago. |
MTV released the Top 10 Emcees of 2012 list
drake, lil wayne, nicki minaj higher up than Wiz Khalifa ![]() ![]() ![]() looking forward to some new Odd Future/Tyler, The Creator this year |
Wale video is dope, what up DMX, super group sounds ridiculous, and I have a feeling Nicki Minaj is gonna start backing away from the gimmicky pop stuff. Or not and fade away.
|
That supergroup sounds too perfect to be true.
Also I agree with Nicki Minaj. She hasn't sold out. That would require her to have had some sort of musical integrity to begin with. She's like All Time Low. Except she always sucked and is somehow more successful. |

1. Kanye 2. Jay-z 3. Drake 4. Rick Ross 5. Nicki Minaj 6. Big Sean/ Lil Wayne 7. J . Cole 8. Wale/ Meek Mill 9. Kendrick Lamar 10. Jeezy/Asap Rocky Watch The Throne had the most impact in hip hop this year. The hits from Take Care dominated the radio and still are. Rick Ross has grown his label and been prominent. Nicki Minaj had a platinum album and rose to mainstream popularity. She’s bordering on Icon status. Big Sean had a great year, Finally Famous the album made him a superstar . Wayne is Wayne , The Carter IV sold well but it failed as an album. J cole has a platinum song and Cole World was a classic debut. He received a grammy nod. Wale Had a number one rap album and number two overall album. I can’t listen to the rapper without hearing Lotus Flower, However his album was a disappointment. Meek Mill had hip hop big heads on his I’m a Boss remix and House Party is a club banger. Dream chasers is a good mixtape, showcases Mills talent. MMG had a good year. Section 80 is easily the most discussed underground project of 2011. Kendick’s career has flourished as well as his labelmates. Jeezy resurrected his career with TM103 and Asap Rocky is the poser child for the new era of a new york rap scene. I’m not a fan of some of this artist but facts are facts. I based my criteria around buzz and tried to be fair/balanced. |
