Woo! After years of trying, first published news submission.

Anyway, hopefully this is the beginning of mini-tours or something to that effect. I can't imagine not seeing RX each summer.

Set Your Goals are playing too. Interesting.

Welp, that was quick. UCSD definitely offered them $20,000+ for this, so it probably would have been hard to turn down.

$20,000+???? Granted, I'm not a big Rx Bandits fan, and I have no idea whether UCSD is a school or a music festival, $20,000+ seems excessive...

I'm guessing UCSD=University of San Diego.

And yeah, I'm sure that 20K would bring them out.

girlfriend goes to that school. rich bitches everywhere. Jesus its insane

I'm sure they had no prob shoveling out 20k to bring a big band there

UCSD =/= USD (University of San Diego)

UC San Diego is a public school, but I'm surprised if they actually did spend that much money since they have their huge Sun God Festival in May

The show is on Friday, not Saturday. Definitely going even though I have a midterm Saturday morning. Also it's free for UCSD students and $5 for guests I think.

You have a midterm on Saturday morning?

Punkdc 02/28/12 08:11 PM

When schools book bands, most agents ask for more money because they have funding because each student pays over $100 a semester/quarter for entertainment. 20k is very reasonable for a band.

Sadly yeah. The test is too long to take during our regular class time so my professor had to plan it some other time. According to him, he only had two options available: Friday night or Saturday morning/noon, so he chose the latter. Which works in my case since now I can see SYG and RX Bandits this Friday.

Fucking seriously. Also 20k is nothing compared to the budget for Sun God (our largest festival) which is at least 500k.

Seems weird though; sure 20K is a lot, but I'm sure if this band hadn't broken up they could have made at least that amount in total from playing a few shows these last few months. Plus I'm sure they would have been able to play some summer festivals that shell out a lot of money too. That's kind of the trade off a band makes when they decide to break up...no more gig money. They just kind of forgot about that part?
