Motorhead Joins Mayhem

Motorhead has been added to the 2012 Mayhem Festival line-up, joining the previously announced Slipknot, Slayer, Anthrax, The Devil Wears Prada, As I Lay Dying, Asking Alexandria and more. Full details on the summer tour can be found here.

kcpunk 03/05/12 11:58 AM

My metalhead neighbor is stoked.

StephenYoung 03/05/12 11:58 AM

The Sumerian bands sound so out of place.

t00latef0rr0ses 03/05/12 11:59 AM

Asking Alexandria alone is worth the price of admission.

Are you a fifteen year old girl or just a homosexual?

anthonydarko 03/05/12 12:03 PM

Now that's out of the way, I will say this line-up is definitely the most solid since 2009. With this and Summer Slaughter turning out to be just as solid, this is a good summer for metal fans.

complete sarcasm. no one on this site would ever dare say something positive in regards to that trash.

Chuck! 03/05/12 12:10 PM

Awesome lineup. I've never seen Slayer so I feel obligated to go

iseejosh 03/05/12 12:15 PM

Never would think TDWP would tour with a band who released a CD called 'God Hates Us All'.

Killerkid64 03/05/12 12:17 PM

AILD and TDWP are the only bands worth seeing. No sarcasm.

marsvoltamcr 03/05/12 12:17 PM

kickass, varied lineup. I'm pumped for Slipknot, Anthrax, TDWP, Upon A Burning Body, and MOTORHEAD. Everyone there should be excited to see Lemmy, because he's the man.

I was unaware that Anthrax, As I Lay Dying, The Devil Wears Prada, Slipknot, and/or Slayer is/are also signed to Sumerian...

tdwp has always been touring with secular bands. where have u been?

moneymaker. 03/05/12 12:24 PM

i was hoping for a better band than motorhead, but ill probably go to this for tdwp and slipknot. better than the warped lineup this year

No, I know they have, but Slayer proudly wears their religious beliefs on their sleeve.

Haha this.

There's a second Sumerian stage that got added.

Haha this.

Can you not read? The "Sumerian stage" featuring Upon a Burning Body and I The Breather, as mentioned on the article sounds quite out of place beside a lineup of large and established bands.

Nice try with the sarcasm though. Better luck next time.

Tom Araya is Catholic, believe it or not.

fallfromgrace85 03/05/12 01:02 PM

Huh. Might not be half bad running for the tour this year. Wish my fave caterers were still on it tho.

MBIIdollaBill 03/05/12 01:03 PM

Aside from asking alexandria, this is an epic line-up. Might try to make my way for this

Why does that matter? Underoath has toured with bands that don't have a high opinion of religion or God.

yeah that makes sense. its a good way to reach out to people who have different beliefs

kskillzz 03/05/12 01:28 PM

Cant decide if I want to go to this or not, I don't really like any of these bands besides TDWP but I feel like a lot of these bands would put on an awesome live show. The crowds would probably be kind of shitty though..

If anything, go to see Slayer and Motorhead because they're not going to be around for forever.

funny thing, i watched an interview with spencer a while time ago and he spoke as if he were agnostic. so i guess the religious aspect left with aaron.

swboyd 03/05/12 03:15 PM

I've heard rumors that the unannounced band is Periphery...that might actually cause me to go.

Bah, it's not like I clicked on the link anyway.

johnnyferris 03/05/12 04:14 PM

That's good for I the Breather. Their new album is great.

Well, that's the first problem.

And Underoath don't have problems with secular bands. Pretty sure them and NOFX became buddies after the incident.

GlassyLight 03/05/12 05:10 PM

Wildly amused at the apparent complete apathy towards the immortal Motorhead. For the love of all things metal, make a trek to see these guys - if not for the kickass music, do it to see how horrifically loud a show can get. I guarantee you've never heard a show that loud before unless you've seen Motorhead.
