Fun. Hits #1 on Billboard Hot 100

Fun. becomes the first rock band in more than a decade to send a debut Billboard Hot 100 hit to number one.
From the ArticleWith its coronation, fun. becomes the first multi-member rock band to conquer the Hot 100 with its first entry on the chart since Nickelback arrived with its four-week No. 1 "How You Remind Me" in December 2001/January 2002. The song went on to become Billboard's top title of 2002. (Electronic/alternative act Owl City ruled the Hot 100 with debut single "Fireflies" in 2009, but the name served as an alias for its only member, Adam Young).

Feel free to filter out their news.

JordanKTM 03/07/12 03:06 PM

How much money did they make compared to their label from this?

Poochemist 03/07/12 03:10 PM

Hope that the band and FBR can run with this success so it continues for them.

iden22 03/07/12 03:11 PM

Wow I can't be happier for them. They deserve all the success they're getting.

irthesteve 03/07/12 03:12 PM

Is there any other profession where it's deemed as acceptable to ask this question?

firewater 03/07/12 03:17 PM

pretty much this

Debut_Fin 03/07/12 03:22 PM

I'd definitely consider them a pop band, not a rock band, but regardless I'm happy for them

SincerelyMe 03/07/12 03:23 PM

Awesome. Good for them.

James Johnson 03/07/12 03:23 PM

Wow this is fantastic! fun make me believe in pop music in 2012. That is impressive alone, now they have the results to back this up!

DeadOaks 03/07/12 03:28 PM

cubsml34 03/07/12 03:28 PM

circletheworld 03/07/12 03:32 PM

Damn, these dudes are blowing the hell up. I'm not a fan, but good on 'em.

EDIT: This thread encouraged me to give the album another listen. Its growing on me pretty quickly.

CavanaughPark 03/07/12 03:40 PM

I wouldn't necessarily call their new music "rock".....but good for them nevertheless.

I'm looking forward to a summer Nickelback tour with fun. as the opener.

AgainstTheCurrent 03/07/12 03:47 PM

Good for them! Maybe I should give their album another shot..

AndrewSoup 03/07/12 03:52 PM

Awesome news for them! Glad to see them getting some recognition. I still need to pick up their album though; I love just about the whole thing, sans "It Gets Better".

Meeze 03/07/12 03:55 PM

Congratulations guys!

brook183 03/07/12 03:57 PM

Yes yes yes, push Kelly Clarkson down to #2. That song is so damn annoying.

Hip-hop music has been dominating the charts for a decade.

I feel bad for any unborn children who will have to put up with their parents listening to Lil Wayne on the oldies station.

Qadriyyah 03/07/12 04:16 PM

Go! Fun. Go!

This album is heavily influenced by hip-hop production and is much more pop than rock.

zachff 03/07/12 04:19 PM

I wonder what Sam Means' thoughts are on all the success that fun. is having. I ask that out of curiosity, not sarcasm.

Brissona 03/07/12 04:22 PM

Fuck.

blimpcityhero11 03/07/12 04:41 PM

This means so much more because it replaces Nickelback for the most recent honor.

guitarguy211 03/07/12 04:47 PM

Its cool to see some bands outisde the norm gaining mainstream success.
However, this album has yet to grow on me and become that amazing pop album as compared to some great ones last year (The Cab and The Summer Set each blew me away).

QuietThings430 03/07/12 04:50 PM

This is incredible.

fbrrocks 03/07/12 04:58 PM

so happy 4 this

Acad08 03/07/12 05:00 PM

Wow cool. Love the album, and yes, even It Gets Better.

stonecoldfox 03/07/12 05:03 PM

I'm just glad that they took the throne from Nickelback...

demetrios 03/07/12 05:05 PM

"The song is being promoted to radio by the Roadrunner Records label."

Now you know why Avalanche City was added as support.

just.Starla. 03/07/12 05:11 PM

That's awesome! Congrats to them.

MikeyJam 03/07/12 05:13 PM

would never have guessed three years ago that this would happen

Threads like this always bring out the worst AP posters. Ugh. Anyway, congratulations, fun. Album is super duper good.
