ABSOLUTExclusive: Kiven

I've been pushing Kiven pretty hard lately, so I'm pretty pumped about this exclusive. We're bringing you a stream of their excellent new EP Step today, head to their AP.net profile to get in on it. The band is also offering a free download of "The Blur Ensues" and "Release" here. Like what you hear? Buy it here. My usual RIYL consists of Thrice, Circa Survive and Minus the Bear but I think you can throw a little The Mars Volta and even hints of Young the Giant in this one. Let us know what you think in the replies!

This EP rules hard. Definitely hearing a little Mars Volta in this.

I streamed this on spotify, and it was way better than I expected.

Yeah I mentioned them in there but it was like the 150th post which meant it was definitely going to get lost in there haha.

Does this remind anyone else of As Tall As Lions?

Really solid stuff.

For sure. Great comparison.

This sounds pretty cool - sounds to me like a quieter version of Iceland's Agent Fresco, which I just thought I'd come in here and namedrop, given that it's a crying shame more people haven't heard their 2010 album "A Long Time Listening". Easily one of the most mindblowing records of the past..? 5 years? If not more

trevorshmevor 03/12/12 02:49 PM

Hell yes. So excited it's spring break right now, I have time today to be able to sit down and listen to this with some headphones. Been craving more from this band since the second I finished listening to the Two In The Same EP for the first time.
