Would Copeland's acoustic performances on their Sony Connect Sessions (it came with In Motion) count? I always enjoyed their intimate and stripped down takes of their songs on that disc.

I also have Eric Clapton's 24 Nights from my dad's collection. I put that on from time to time.

I've meant to get Thrice's live album and Daft Punk's Alive 2007 a while back.

Forgot a few classics,

Johnny Cash - Live At Folsom Prison. Seriously, the king of all live records, no idea how I missed this from my original list, but it's fucking incredible.

Bjork - Live Series. She put out live versions of her first four albums. I'm a massive Bjork fanboy, so the fact that I forgot that was pretty shoddy from me. She's got an absolutely brilliant voice and the songs sound totally different live, which is one of the major factors that keep me listening to it.

A few other less essential, but still good:

Biffy Clyro - Revolutions Live at Wembley
Braid - Lucky To Be Alive
Bright Eyes - Motion Sickness
Frightened Rabbit - Liver! Lung! FR!
Sigur Ros - Inni / Heima
The Get Up kids - Live @ Grenada Theatre
Jimmy Eat World - Clarity Live
Muse - H.A.A.R.P
Refused - Live at Umea

YEP.

Where the Light Is is an essential live album and possibly John Mayer at his best

i love live albums.
i like the feel of them. the atmosphere, how the songs sound live, the crowd. especially if it's a 2 disc set of DVD/CD.
i'd like to have some more of them, really. :-)

Circa Survive.

Please release a live CD/DVD.

there's my plea. :-d

I have the Dustin one as "Live At The Knitting Factory" and never knew he was going under another moniker during that time, cool info. That and the Jesse bootleg are both pretty awesome

Any chance you know of a download link to that Dustin set?

Almost every live version of any Jason Mraz song is better than the studio version. But Jason Mraz - Live at Java Joe's is my favorite live album'

Am821 03/23/12 12:10 AM

The get up kids - live at the Granada theatre

AP_Punk 03/23/12 12:45 AM

propagandhi - live from occupied territory (which is a iive dvd actually, but the audio is out there on its own!)

they need to do another one. and gaslight needs to put one out asap - would go back to that over and over.

NIRVANA UNPLUGGED

possibly one of the greatest acoustic performances ever

There's no "possibly" about it imo. That's probably the Nirvana album I've listened to most.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but my favourite live album by far and away is Matt Good's "Live at Massey Hall". Unbelievable, though I'm sure not everyone loves him as much as I do. Still, 5-10 minute epic songs complete with strings kills it. Also really enjoy Thrice at HOB and the live Sigur Ros dvd.

Live albums are never an essential listen for me. If it's somebody I really like, then I'll buy them, but 99% of the time I prefer the studio versions of the songs. That said, here are some of my favourite live albums;

The Who - Live At Leeds
MC5 - Back In The USA
James Brow - Live At the Apollo, 1962
Sam Cooke - Live At the Harlem Square Club
Bob Dylan - I like a lot of the many Bootleg Series that he's put out, I'll go for number 4 as my favourite overall
Bruce Springsteen - Live 1975 - 85

And more recent ones:
Green Day - Bullet In A Bible
Thrice - Live At The House Of Blues
Tegan and Sara - Get Along
NOFX - I Heard They Suck Live / They've Gotten Even Worse Live!
Bad Religion - 30 Years Live

The Sam Cooke one is bloody amazing!!!
