Tour Blog: If These Trees Could Talk (Day 1)
Our friends If These Trees Could Talk have just kicked off their European tour, so we asked them to start a tour blog here on AP.net and keep us updated throughout. Their guitarist Mike wrote a quick update before the band left a few days ago, which you can read below.
Tour BlogHello. My name is Mike, and I play guitar in the band If These Trees Could Talk from Akron, OH. Absolutepunk asked if we'd write a few updates during our upcoming tour of Europe. I say upcoming because I'm writing this about 6 hours before we're supposed to meet to get this thing on the move. A little back story: The Trees have been around for the better part of 7 years. In that 7 years, we've managed to release 1 EP and 2 full length albums; our newest being "Red Forest" which came out on March 20th, 2012. Since we recorded and released our EP in 2006, European audiences seemed to have latched onto the music in a very visceral way. We had gotten requests to play in Europe all of the time, but never really had the time to do it since we all were just finishing up with college and working big boy jobs. Touring for more than 3-4 days was kind of outside the realm of what we did, so to consider touring Europe had always been a far fetched idea. Fast forward to April 4th, 2012 and we are about to leave to tour Europe for 15 days. How'd that happen?

Tomorrow will consist of fried nerves, hours of travel, and iPad video games, but will be worth all of the sitting once we arrive and play the first show (Dunk! Festival in Zottegem, Belgium). We will be visiting Belgium, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Austria, Croatia, Hungary and Italy as well, and look forward to sharing the debauchery (book reading, site seeing and sleeping) with you along the way. Stayed tuned. Things will probably get weird.

I saw them open for As Tall As Lions once in Akron. They were AMAZING. Post-harcore, melodic, instrumental, and all around fantastic.

I remember touring through Akron and trying to get these guys to play with us but it never went down, was a bit bummed.

Akron represent! I've seen you guys a few times around, so I can see why the demand is there. Best of luck...
