I love the recording. Sooo dirty/muddy. Not sure where I am with this overall, though. Who is singing? Joe, Josh, or someone else?

FallOutWeeze 04/18/12 10:44 AM

Joe is singing.

drewbaldy 04/18/12 10:47 AM

This okay.

There should be absolutepunk.net user pool involving how long it will be before Fall Out Boy gets back together.

I say within the next year we will get an announcement. (probably just wishful thinking)

Always loved Joe.

Didn't expect to like this....but was presently surprised.

mattisrawrock 04/18/12 10:52 AM

Queens of The Stone Age much?

I can dig it though

Nolessthanblink 04/18/12 10:54 AM

At work. What's it sound like? Heavier, poppier, etc?

Like Matt said above, Queens of The Stone Age.

chrisCcoan 04/18/12 11:18 AM

If he is having fun doing it then thats awesome cause he is the man, but it's not my thing. It reminds me of Temple of the Dog or weird Alice n Chains vocals/ meets rob zombie/ black sabbath.. The last song sounds like Marilyn Manson dropped acid. Whatever it is he has enough money to enjoy being creative

zachff 04/18/12 11:25 AM

Eh, liked The Damned Things a lot more than I'm liking this.

Dubui_209 04/18/12 11:33 AM

That was bad.

When the singing first started, I was expecting it to get very Mastodon-y, but yeah QOTSA is a pretty spot on comparison.

This. It feels like a watered down QotSA, though. It lacks energy.

Haha, I see that now. That post wasn't there when I initially clicked the story and loaded the thread. Good call

abusedcat 04/18/12 11:50 AM

Really digging this, right up my alley sound-wise.
Almost sounds like Joe's channeling Mark Lanegan.

Things we've learned since 2009:

Fall Out Boy > the sum of its parts

richrad 04/18/12 12:01 PM

Too jam-y for me.

ekarddivad 04/18/12 12:27 PM

I'm not digging the vocals at all.

Yes. In this case, I'd rather have 1 project than 12. (slight exaggeration) Although Patrick's pop album was great.

tomatl 04/18/12 12:38 PM

Kind of reminds me of the direction I thought Torche was going to go before they did Meanderthal. Pretty into it.

Capulet 04/18/12 12:41 PM

no way he went from fall out boy to this... lol

njiata603 04/18/12 12:55 PM

love this. josh newton is the man.

whiterussian 04/18/12 01:28 PM

Some of it's pretty cool, the bass is great and the drums are neat.

The vocals are the weakest part. Like in many stoner bands, it's hard to have a voice that is both minimalistic and charismatic.

zing

PetitnaindesĪles 04/18/12 03:22 PM

Instrumentally it's good. Vocally... not sure but you can tell he's really influenced by these stoner bands

Bryan Mac 04/18/12 04:10 PM

This is really, really bad.

Yep. You dumb. 04/18/12 08:28 PM

Wrong. I like it.

Sounds better as a whole. Joe has such a high voice when he speaks so it's really pretty funny to hear him like this, but I'm excited for them and happy he got to take the lead role for once. Sounds absolutely nothing like Fall Out Boy, but what did you expect?

^This. /thread. You could argue there's a lack of energy but he's clearly going for a specific style here as well so it's a difficult mix. Again, this is just an EP, so we'll see how they evolve from here I suppose!

xconcretenwater 04/27/12 12:56 PM

very surprised and impressed - i dig it!
