Joe Trohman's "With Knives" Hits Bandcamp
|
I love the recording. Sooo dirty/muddy. Not sure where I am with this overall, though. Who is singing? Joe, Josh, or someone else?
|
Joe is singing.
|
This okay.
There should be absolutepunk.net user pool involving how long it will be before Fall Out Boy gets back together. I say within the next year we will get an announcement. (probably just wishful thinking) |
Always loved Joe.
Didn't expect to like this....but was presently surprised. |
Queens of The Stone Age much?
I can dig it though |
At work. What's it sound like? Heavier, poppier, etc?

If he is having fun doing it then thats awesome cause he is the man, but it's not my thing. It reminds me of Temple of the Dog or weird Alice n Chains vocals/ meets rob zombie/ black sabbath.. The last song sounds like Marilyn Manson dropped acid. Whatever it is he has enough money to enjoy being creative
|
Eh, liked The Damned Things a lot more than I'm liking this.
|
That was bad.
|
When the singing first started, I was expecting it to get very Mastodon-y, but yeah QOTSA is a pretty spot on comparison.

Haha, I see that now. That post wasn't there when I initially clicked the story and loaded the thread. Good call |
Really digging this, right up my alley sound-wise.
Almost sounds like Joe's channeling Mark Lanegan. |
Things we've learned since 2009:
Fall Out Boy > the sum of its parts |
Too jam-y for me.
|
I'm not digging the vocals at all.

Yes. In this case, I'd rather have 1 project than 12. (slight exaggeration) Although Patrick's pop album was great. |
Kind of reminds me of the direction I thought Torche was going to go before they did Meanderthal. Pretty into it.
|
no way he went from fall out boy to this... lol
|
love this. josh newton is the man.
|
Some of it's pretty cool, the bass is great and the drums are neat.
The vocals are the weakest part. Like in many stoner bands, it's hard to have a voice that is both minimalistic and charismatic. |

Instrumentally it's good. Vocally... not sure but you can tell he's really influenced by these stoner bands
|
This is really, really bad.
|
Wrong. I like it.
|
Sounds better as a whole. Joe has such a high voice when he speaks so it's really pretty funny to hear him like this, but I'm excited for them and happy he got to take the lead role for once. Sounds absolutely nothing like Fall Out Boy, but what did you expect?

^This. /thread. You could argue there's a lack of energy but he's clearly going for a specific style here as well so it's a difficult mix. Again, this is just an EP, so we'll see how they evolve from here I suppose! |
very surprised and impressed - i dig it!
