Gotye has unseated fun. from the #1 spot on the Billboard charts.

I'm okay with this. Funny how Gotye's song was on alt rock stations around Christmas time. Glee has a magical touch it seems.

Meeze 04/19/12 10:58 AM

It was a matter of time. That Gotye track is pretty sick.

herestoyoufla 04/19/12 10:58 AM

son of a bitch.

cwhit412 04/19/12 10:59 AM

Could this be the first time in a long time that one solid track took the place of another? haven't kept up with it too much, and there is plenty good in mainstream music, but it doesn't seem likely that we can have great back to back songs like this.

brook183 04/19/12 11:03 AM

Let's hope this trend continues.

Objectively, it's the first time in a very long time that one rock song succeeded another on the charts.

did anyone see american idol cover this? i don't watch the show but my gf does and called me in to see it and they butchered it to pieces....so out of key it almost ruined the song for me haha.

Phil507 04/19/12 11:09 AM

Good. It's a better song than "We Are Young".

I seen it while I was flicking through the channels. Let's just say I didn't stay there long... I guess the world really ending. Dick Clark is gone and good music is finally taking over.

deezee 04/19/12 11:14 AM

Awesome song, and Kimbra deserves more credit :)

PirateSkater182 04/19/12 11:17 AM

So random.

That was atrocious. Why would you try to cover this?

Kimbra is so amazing.

zachff 04/19/12 11:22 AM

A super legit cover, if anyone is interested:

See my above post.

mattisrawrock 04/19/12 11:25 AM

Booo!

Who Is Ryan? 04/19/12 11:29 AM

Finally! As much as I love Fun., Gotye is so much better imo. Also "We Are Young" pretty much got overplayed.

defy_stars 04/19/12 11:32 AM

Making Mirrors is such a wonderful album :celebrate:

fanberlinboy 04/19/12 11:37 AM

One good rock song to another. I'm all right with this.

plns 04/19/12 11:41 AM

Song is so sick.

Does anyone think that the girl looks and sounds like Katy Perry?

iheartmusic043 04/19/12 11:44 AM

Completely happy about this. Knew it was going to be a hit when I heard it last summer and Gotye and Kimbra are so incredibly talented. Good for them.

Mario57 04/19/12 11:46 AM

It's unbelievable how huge this song has got, i remember when i first heard it last summer as i was discovering Kimbra. Congrats to Fun as well though

Rustash 04/19/12 11:47 AM

Thank god. I can't stand We Are Young.

To be honest, I didn't think the guy sounded too bad. But whoever the chick was sounded like she was singing drunk-off-her-ass karaoke. Good god.

I think she did pretty well. I like how he did the verses but not really in the chorus. Sounded off, but to each their own.

That girl is fucking awful.

Really happy for Gotye, Kimbra, and Fun.'s success. They deserve it.

irthesteve 04/19/12 12:18 PM

I still don't like that song, but I'm ok with it being the one to defeat them

First time since 2000, so 12 years. Very cool for "rock" music

bluecrunchy 04/19/12 12:22 PM

Both songs are irritatingly overplayed, but they're still better than most of the crap on the radio, so uh, good for both of them.

Francese5 04/19/12 01:02 PM

I hate the radio edit of this song.

blindrider529 04/19/12 01:40 PM

So much rather have Gotye and Fun. fighting for the top spot than Ke$ha & Nikki Minaj.

Only cover worth posting of this song. Been obsessed with this for months now. Actually how I came to even know about the original and Gotye's album, which, by the way, is fantastic.

Yeah it's fucking phenomenal. IMO their videos are better than anything OK GO has done in the past few years, but they're still relatively unknown.

Solution: don't listen to the radio.

awesome insight on the making of this song
so glad to see real musical talents go number 1

PS. first Aussie to go no1 in USA since Savage Garden!! go boy!

bladerdude360 04/19/12 02:07 PM

It was bound to happen eventually. Good run, though!

lilRIPsta 04/19/12 02:44 PM

Kimbra is a fox

cherbrand11 04/19/12 02:57 PM

Two good songs in a row?! My faith in humanity is slowly getting restored

Manufactured Dreams 04/19/12 03:08 PM

The power of Glee.

Steeeve Perry 04/19/12 04:18 PM

Proud day to be an Aussie. If only I was part Belgian...
Awesome song and let me assure everyone, it's been out since mid-last year in Oz and has pretty much worn out its welcome but it has a lot better replay value than We Are Young which I'm already just about sick of.

Yeah. Finally, it was about time people stopped playing Fun. I love those guys and I do so hate overplayed songs...

With that said, I heard that Gotye song on the radio a couple times and I hated it. It was awful except the chorus was damn good, but the instruments, the verses, and the girl were meh.

Who Is Ryan? 04/19/12 04:48 PM

I'm just waiting patiently for this to drop on the radio already tbh

runningohfive 04/19/12 05:42 PM

I had a feeling Gotye's single was going to reach #1. It is a great song and the album rules

AussieBoy 04/19/12 05:57 PM

still shocked it took the USA 10months, but better late than never :)

stonecoldfox 04/19/12 06:32 PM

Glee needs to keep this trend of making good music popular going. I didn't think their cover was that bad either, Darren Criss can sing his ass off.

saintnumberfive 04/19/12 08:28 PM

Fitting. The two biggest alternative songs this year..

Thomas Nassiff 04/19/12 08:34 PM

Sometimes it's just nice to see a song dominate for a while. It was good to see fun. do that and equally as cool to see this song doing it.

Phillip is pretty much the epitome of a one trick pony. He has a small range and has trouble anytime he gets out of his Dave Matthews voice. Elise, on the other hand, is a great singer. There are a couple other singers who could've killed this...but Phillip is NOT one of them.

PopPunkKid 04/19/12 08:55 PM

I much prefer Fun. over Gotye... I honestly only liked about 3 songs on his album, the rest was way too mellow and boring. That said, this song is one of those 3, and it is a great song.
