These two songs are absolutely amazing. Wow, it takes out the whole BABE album out in a heart beat. Good job syg.

CluckyB 04/24/12 12:30 PM

Set Your New Found Goals

Actually kinda liked both of them, and I haven't really been impressed by anything I've seen from these guys. Maybe I'll get their earlier stuff another listen. Their last album was just so completely mediocre that it probably clouded my judgment on the previous ones.

Wow. So much better when the whiney vocalist isn't wailing. Drummers got some serious talent too.

seriously, that was one of the problems with BABE, they were trying to sing way too far out of their range. sounded bad, real bad.

these songs rule so hard.

This band needs to go the The Wonder Years/Hit the Lights/Transit route and write some slower, softer songs for variety's sake. This new stuff sounds exactly like their first two albums...a third album of nothing but super fast songs would get repetitive.

Write slower songs ? Fuck that

Well played.

jaredohgren 04/24/12 01:09 PM

Thank God.

rawspinner 04/24/12 01:21 PM

Doesn't BABE get much better when the songs are put in a different order?

saturday_snow_squall 04/24/12 01:30 PM

so ridiculously good!

Mutiny! and TWBTDOU are both excellent records, IMO.

Agreed.

SILYW 04/24/12 02:42 PM

I think these tracks are better the majority of the past 2 records, I don't get what was so amazing about TWBTDOU! as an overall album, I preferred the raw angst and energy of Mutiny! and these tracks have that.

Very true. I don't understand how people like their new album it's fucking shit. FYS are totally heading to the bad direction. Not SYG.

johnnyferris 04/24/12 02:56 PM

These are great!

Brandonmorrill 04/24/12 03:17 PM

I was not a fan of the last album. I can dig this.

mrnegativezero 04/24/12 03:20 PM

Really enjoying these tracks. I never even listened or look at the last album but from what I gather, it's a good thing I didn't. This is what I want from Set Your Goals. And now I'm wishing they were playing Warped Tour again. Loved seeing them live the first time I did.

skibby15 04/24/12 03:23 PM

was meh on the previews... love these so much more than the last 2 albums

feelgoodside 04/24/12 03:31 PM

I don't see how this is all that much better than BABE, although I was in the minority who thought BABE was good. I see no correlation with this and Mutiny! or TWBTDOU.

Web250 04/24/12 03:37 PM

Lord these are so much better than BABE.

Way to go SYG

fucking awesome i chipped two teeth when i saw them in december

sleepyseanzzz 04/24/12 03:48 PM

TWBTDOU was my favorite, I just remember being so excited, waiting to hear it for the first time (I discovered Mutiny in early 08) and was going to see them 3 days after the release. I thought that Look Closer, Summer Jam, The Fallen, and The Few That Remain were some of their best songs ever written even though Mutiny as whole album was better if that makes any sense.

I couldn't pre-order BABE fast enough but it left me so dissapointed even though I love the fuck outta the pop songs (Certain, London Heathrow and Product of the 80's - such a guilty pleasure song). These songs are great especially the second one. Hope Chad comes back to produce the whole record. Live show is awesome even though on youtube it doesn't look that great haha

zomgbrandnew 04/24/12 03:51 PM

never really understood the hate for BABE but these songs fucking rule

Do I detect a little bit of lady problems?
problems = good music

chrisCcoan 04/24/12 05:10 PM

Chad Gilbert= The God Father of EasyCore. The placement of every catchy riff, pause, gang vocal and breakdown is so perfect.

CBKRP 04/24/12 05:29 PM

SYG's have become the most polarizing band on this site and this super positive response proves it. I really wish they wouldn't of named their last album what they did so I wouldn't have to see the word BABE anymore! haha rock on to these new tunes people..

8BitGlitch 04/24/12 05:40 PM

Why isn't Chad doing the whole record?

dannylololol 04/24/12 05:41 PM

Yum

theStartingline 04/24/12 05:44 PM

Chad is just awesome in whatever he has a hand in along with the rest of NFG. I just really hope someone writes another album review that subtly challenges FYS to respond..

ViTOP 04/24/12 05:46 PM

I love these new tunes.

This band being anything but balls-to-the-wall simply would not work.

ICBIMTS 04/24/12 05:52 PM

I'm halfway through the first song and this already makes up for the last record.

camperfrequency 04/24/12 05:54 PM

I wrote the little review on Amazon... These songs are too good!

lordjedediah 04/24/12 06:00 PM

BABE hate was mostly unwarranted. TWBTDOU hate was 100% unwarranted. These songs are great.

CastlesXClouds 04/24/12 06:21 PM

holy fack. fantastic.

That sounds fucking awful.

Intotheunkn0wn 04/24/12 07:07 PM

nice rebound for this band. Next rebound will be FYS

IamNogreatMan 04/24/12 07:17 PM

Oh my.

March_Faster!! 04/24/12 07:27 PM

The chorus for "I'll walk it off" made me jizz my huggies. Real talk.

dancelukedance 04/24/12 07:38 PM

Nice! Really digging it. Back in action?

xxdeadawakexx 04/24/12 07:44 PM

BABE was a giant step in the wrong direction for SYG. These 2 new songs are great. Definitely some of the best songs they have written in years. I figured they woulda hung it up after BABE.

Acad08 04/24/12 07:53 PM

The recordings sound great! Sweet songs, can't wait to hear more new stuff.

TurnOnTheLight 04/24/12 07:56 PM

i spent the last 24 hours looking forward to this in rapt anticipation and both songs more than exceeded my expectations.

AFloresxxx 04/24/12 08:14 PM

Thank you everyone for all the Kind words. :overhead:

xent 04/24/12 08:51 PM

good songs

Chris Fallon 04/24/12 08:54 PM

Both are terrific, but "I'll Walk It Off" is a total jam. Can't get it out of my head!

calciumwaste 04/24/12 08:56 PM

The last album was so mediocre, but this is great.
