Riley Writes About Thrice's Upcoming Farewell Tour
 

This week, Riley Breckenridge's weekly column 3hree Things deals with the topic of Thrice's impending Farewell Tour.

Saying that there are a lot of unforgettable memories packed into those songs, be it the writing and recording of them, or touring on them and playing them live, seems like a gross understatement to me. There's really no way to explain it from this side. Fourteen years is more than a third of my life. That's nuts to me. And as I listen to and play along with these songs, those memories rush by like when my elementary school teacher would leave the projector on as he/she rewound a filmstrip we watched. They move by too quickly to hang on to any or all of them, but there's a resonance there (beyond the spinning of the reels). For me, that resonance is gratitude.

Any Thrice news just make me sad now.

Thrice was the best band of this generation to come out of its genre.

Anytime I see a post about Thrice I am hoping it's about a Vinyl reissue

Same.. I keep waiting for "Thrice have changed their minds!". It's like that month after you break up with someone and every text you get you're thinking "OMG IT'S... ahhh it's just john."

I hope that some day (sometime in the next 5 years, hopefully) I will wake up, log on to AbsolutePunk and see a headline about Thrice ending their hiatus.
I'm just grateful for everything they've given us.

I feel as sad about Thrice's hiatus as I did about Blink's back when I was in 6th grade. Which is pretty fucking sad.

For fucking real. This band means so much to me. Seeing them in Dallas is going to suck and rock at the same time. Stupid feelings.

Just bought tickets to see them in Milwaukee. Will be my first time seeing this band, on the last tour they might ever play. It's gonna be a bittersweet experience.
