out of curiosity... do they give digital downloads with cassettes too? i understand the vinyl craze, but definitely remember the lack of sound quality of cassettes. are they just collectable or what's the deal?

I talked to an artist four years who called out that this cassette craze would hit, and he didn't understand why people even wanted the cassettes he was selling.

I still don't get it? :-|

Yeah, they often come with a download code. I would say that the main appeal of cassette releases today is the collectible nature and relatively cheap cost in making (and buying) them. So when I buy a cassette-only release, I'm getting a physical copy of it for cheaper than a cd or record, while getting a digital copy for listening purposes. Also, I find cassettes more aesthetically pleasing than discs. Some artists may also use the cassette format as a way of achieving a desired lo-fi effect in the music.
