The Gaslight Anthem Stream Bonus Track

Head here to stream The Gaslight Anthem's "Teenage Rebellion," an acoustic bonus song from Handwritten. The new album officially drops tomorrow.

plns 07/23/12 08:35 AM

This song is awesome. Will be at my local store at midnight to pick up Handwritten on vinyl.

handlikesecret 07/23/12 08:37 AM

I'm fine with it not making the cut for the album, but, man, that's still a beautiful song.

IceAge/HeatWave 07/23/12 08:39 AM

this song is awesome. would have gotten rid of a track like "Too Much Blood" to include this somewhere.

Debut_Fin 07/23/12 08:44 AM

I got my shirt & vinyl like 10 minutes ago. I love this.

gman610 07/23/12 08:46 AM

I probably would have gotten rid of "Desire" to make room for this one. That's the only one that, while I'll admit is a good song, just doesn't do as much for me as the others on the record.

I like "Desire" but I don't think it should be right next to "Biloxi Parish" in the tracklist. I don't know where else I'd put it, but I don't think it should be there.

FUCKDIRTYWIPES 07/23/12 08:54 AM

good song. NEED A RIP.

luckisoverrated 07/23/12 08:56 AM

Dude, this song is beautiful. So sad.

WARhead 07/23/12 09:04 AM

I just started getting into these guys with American Slang. I sampled '59 sound but never really listened to it because I was too busy with American Slang. Now to I'm too busy being excited for the new album. I love the vocals, and that they just write real music.

Ryan Gardner 07/23/12 09:06 AM

Ahhh so good

Thomas Nassiff 07/23/12 09:08 AM

This song is okay to me, I wouldn't trade any song on the record for this one.

Yeah, it may be its placement too. It just doesn't seem to have the emotional punch that all the other tracks have. I like "Biloxi Parish" too, but it doesn't have it either, at least for me. It comes close though. I remember the old live versions had a third verse, I think? And it's a shame they got rid of that, because I really loved the lyrics there.

Too Much Blood is one of the best! Honestly I would have swapped this with The National Anthem before getting rid of Too Much Blood.

Agreed.

"I aint seen my home in half a year
I miss my mother and my friends
Please tell Rita
That I've been praying
For all that trouble to finally end
But When this whole thing is over
And we land in asbury's arms
And the bands all quiets down
And it's just you and me in the dark
I won't say nothing
Cuz that's how I know your heart"

It was my favorite verse from the song, easily.
Not a huge fan of the new bridge. Seems a bit more predictable to me.

Yep, there it is. I would definitely like it more if they had kept that in there. Agreed on the predictable part as well.

zachff 07/23/12 09:32 AM

The album is perfect as is, in my opinion. I wouldn't swap any of the tracks that made the cut for any of the bonus or b-sides we've heard, and the track order works perfectly for me.

Craig Manning 07/23/12 09:56 AM

Will listen later, but "Blue Dahlia" should have been on the record. Wouldn't have trimmed anything, just would have had an extra song. Right before "Mae" would have been perfect.

Goat01 07/23/12 09:57 AM

Blue Dahlia should be on the record, it's fantastic.

Light_Grenades 07/23/12 10:04 AM

I cannot wait for tomorrow. I saved listening to it for the release.

iAMhollyood315 07/23/12 10:16 AM

Ugh I so hope they are selling handwritten at the Albany show tonight. Can't fucking wait

Nate.Rios 07/23/12 10:20 AM

Anyone order their vinyl from Amazon? Has it arrived yet? Really hoping it comes a little early :)

DecemberFaded 07/23/12 10:31 AM

Doesn't have anything to do with this thread but I was just wondering why not a word about the Aurora tragedy was mentioned on here? I know it's a music site but as much love as this site has shown TKDR I figured there would have been something written about what happened.

You should definitely find some time to listen to 59 sound.

knorr45 07/23/12 10:49 AM

My vinyl came in today. So pumped!

Miketheunicycle 07/23/12 10:59 AM

59 sound is easily my favorite album of all time. Holding off on handwritten until the start of my vacation friday.

Ditto.

delvec19 07/23/12 01:22 PM

Anyone got a rip of this?

Ollie McKraut 07/23/12 01:59 PM

Should've just added a track to the record, pretty sure CDs (maybe vinyl records too? clue me in) have room for quite a bit of data these days.

dpatrickguy 07/23/12 03:06 PM

Keepsake is the only song I don't like very much on the new record

This is exactly what I was thinking. I'm actually kinda annoyed Blue Dahlia didn't make the cut, it's just way too awesome and it would have fit in perfectly before Mae. I'm okay with this track as a bonus, I don't think I could choose a track to swap out with it and National Anthem seems like a better closer to me.

iAMhollyood315 07/23/12 11:10 PM

alright I just have to make a post I can't contain myself. just got back from Albany after seeing them for the first time tonight after years of waiting and my god I'm speechless. It was everything i envisioned. Such an incredible group of musicians to see live. they played for an hour and a half maybe a little more and played handwritten for the first time live. and I was right they had the new cd for sale and it made the 2 hour drive home in crazy lighting worth it.
