According to Forbes magazine, Skrillex made 15 million dollars over the past year.

30% to taxes.. prolly another 25% to recoup/mgt/label..

So he only walks away with 7.5 million. Shitty.

What's more shocking to me is that someone, at one time gave From First to Last a $3.5 million dollar deal.

Insane. Good for him though. I was a big fan of his solo work.

Plus his own label that he puts out other music on. But that's probably chump change to what he makes on his own.

Wow.

I want to make fun of him, but I'm not entirely sure how the "we all press play" thing applies to him.
And even if it does, it's not like it's his fault that's what people want.

It makes me laugh how many people shit talk him

- Arguably at the top of his genre, regardless of whether you like it
- Most people who know / knew the guy say he is one of the nicest people (see ETID and others)
- With his record label, he seems to want to help other acts out

Good for him. I'm not ashamed to say I like his music... Nothing groundbreaking and I'm sure it won't have longevity... but for now, I like it.

Also busts his ass. He played 150 shows last year. You figure in travel time and that means he was basically touring for the whole year.

Also, the best part of the article by far was learning that Skrillex participates in Bros Icing Bros. Awesome.

honestly if someone told me in like my freshman year of high school that the FFTL dude would become an international superstar in electronic music, I would have laughed pretty hard.
