I've found Reddit only tends to attack on an AMA if the OP has little respect for the redditors or just doesn't engage in a straightforward conversation with their replies (i.e. plugging a product they're currently releasing, being rude, beating around the bush on an opinion/answer) I think people took what happened with Woody Harrelson's AMA along with a couple other famously bad AMAs and assumed Reddit brings out the shittiest in famous people.
