Blink182: The Best is Yet To Come

Travis Barker recently commented that with Blink-182, "the best is yet to come."

Oh man, that is SUPER-PROMISING!

brook183 09/13/12 10:47 AM

As opposed to what most bands say, "Our next record will be worse!"

thesinkingship 09/13/12 10:48 AM

Guess they can really only go up.

Kyle Thrash 09/13/12 10:51 AM

Just got around to getting neighborhoods 2 days ago and I'm digging it hard.

CoheedForever 09/13/12 10:52 AM

I think I will always be stoked for new Blink.

MyJukeboxBroke 09/13/12 10:54 AM

I think personally they wont be able to write new music that I love(d)/ impacts me on the same level aswit dude ranch or takeI off yourand pants and jacket where that's all I want to listen to and able to sing along to every song. However im always up for being proved wrong

How did you get it so early? Did it leak?

bradsonemanband 09/13/12 10:56 AM

i like that Travis kind of touches on the fact that Neighborhoods was kind of a "getting back into the swing of things" record that they felt a lot of pressure about. i think their next one will have a lot less pressure, and hopefully they realize that working together in the same room at least more often will be best.

Kris_Gontz9 09/13/12 10:59 AM

I hope the new album is better than Neighborhoods, not that it's bad, but i couldn't get into it... Maybe i need to give it a few more spins...

Yawn.

"I feel like the best is yet to come, the next album is going to be exciting. For the most part the last album was recorded in different studios, we weren't always in the same room. We made it happen and it was the best it could be at the time with us three. I think in the future it can be crazy."

_______

This quote tells me that they're going to all gather in one studio and pound out another epic record :)

woohoo! 09/13/12 11:05 AM

this must mean they are going on tour green day. guys what if they did a pop disasters 2.0?!?!

Say Hello 87 09/13/12 11:06 AM

so go do it!!

Mario57 09/13/12 11:07 AM

great quotes, hopefully they'll take their time to write/record together and release a better album than Neighbourhoods (which i liked anyway)

kevinrguinn 09/13/12 11:09 AM

Just give us a record similar to the BCR album

This!

Can't wait for the news to be confirmed.

TheModernAge 09/13/12 11:11 AM

Travis has a voice? I always assumed he was a mute...

Zack Zarrillo 09/13/12 11:12 AM

Interesting quote. I really enjoy Neighborhoods, even a year out. Hope things get cooking sooner than later

DisenShaanted 09/13/12 11:12 AM

I highly doubt that.

There's got to be hardly any Blink fans thinking that Enema of the State can be beaten.

Enema was beaten in 2003

PirateSkater182 09/13/12 11:30 AM

It will just be 5 more years before we hear it.

Especially since the combined writing and recording for Neighborhoods took over a year. Don't see how it'd be any different in this case.

Shinobi1791 09/13/12 11:33 AM

Promising. Neighborhoods was good but think the next one will be better if they concentrate more on it instead of recording in seperate studios and taking breaks to tour and do other stuff.

trolland10 09/13/12 11:34 AM

im gonna call bullshit on that

Already has. Twice.

davecerv 09/13/12 11:53 AM

Cool, it will probably take two years until a new product reaches our ears haha. Still excited about whats to come. I really liked most of Neighborhoods, it was the first blink album I bought. I think they should release an acoustic EP or something in the mean while. I'm hoping they pair up the blinkumentary with the new album… or release it before a new album comes out to keep things moving well through the waiting.

Archael 09/13/12 11:56 AM

Let's hope so because their last one was their worst album, and that's saying a whole fucking lot.

I think most blink fans believe Untitled is the band's best record. I certainly do

Slovo 09/13/12 12:12 PM

Didn't they say that about Neighborhoods? Maybe they can right another 1/2 album of good songs...

jwoody 09/13/12 12:17 PM

Get Jerry finn to to come back to life, lock yourselves in a studio for a few months and let the magic happen.

I really don't think that at all. Dude Ranch, TOYPAJ and Enema are all certainly better than the untitled one. Don't get me wrong...it is decent but not a patch on those 3.

Why do you think that? (Not asking that in a douche-y way at all)
To me, and I think to most, Untitled show's the band's best form of maturation following Box Car Racer, and shows their strongest musical and lyrical output.

Though I think Mark's best lyrics come on +44

super lulz

daftpunker45 09/13/12 12:55 PM

High hopes.

joel_one 09/13/12 01:02 PM

since when has the self titled been "untitled"?

also - enema is the best. dude ranch, self titled, tofpaj and neighborhoods are all good too, but enema (for me at least) will always be the best

and whoever said make it sound like BCR - yes! box car racer was great, i'd love to hear more stuff like that with more mark in it

jdr277 09/13/12 01:03 PM

Give me S/T 2 and Ill be happy. Not that I want them to repeat that album I just want something mature and cohesive that represents Blink now with hints of blink then. Neighborhoods wasn't a bad album but I just never really listen to it because it was kinda all over the place and nothing special. The new album has to blow me away to get me to listen to Pop-Punk like that again..

Archael 09/13/12 01:16 PM

Dude Ranch is far better than anything else they've done (except Self-Titled).

The rest of this band's discography is fucking awful. It's a shame that so many new pop punk bands try to imitate them even still today.

suicidalmoose 09/13/12 01:19 PM

well if he said that I suppose the whole equation will be changed

prospekt 09/13/12 01:29 PM

Neighborhoods is the worst album this band has wrote along with Cheshire Cat.

Really? I forget what year that one came out like '04? I def remember the ones before being better. To each their own

I would have to agree with Zack here. I can enjoy listening to anything pre ST for nostalgia sake but none of those songs appeal to me anymore as i'm now an adult.

The ST album is just sublime. I don't think I would like Blink half as much as I do now if it wasn't for that album. I'm excited to see what the future holds for new Blink, I really liked Neighborhoods but I have a slight feeling that this new record will blow that one out the water just because they're so content and focussed.

stellaparkmike 09/13/12 01:45 PM

I hope they write, produce, and record their next album with all 3 of them together in the same studio

The S/T knocks the shit out of those records. It's in a different league entirely.

JonnyBravo182 09/13/12 02:17 PM

Some people will like the albums before the Self Titled album because they're all pretty much what blink was back then. I think in TOYPAJ is when they started to get a lot more serious with their music (Adam's Song, Stay Together for the Kids) and don't get me wrong, I love all of their albums. But, the self titled struck me as better because I like seeing change in a band's musical and lyrical direction. I mean, I love Enema, TOYPAJ, and dude ranch but I'd prefer to listen to the Self titled. Neighborhoods is also a good album. But for that to be a good album to someone else, they would also have to enjoy the Self Titled. Because neighborhoods is like the self titled in the sense of the seriousness of both albums. But, I do agree that it does seem all over the place because of the pressure they had with the whole reunion and shit. But hopefully they bring out new music faster than they brought out Neighborhoods. I'd love for them to tour again but at this point I want new blink lol

I just prefer them my friend.

They are great sing a long records and a major reason on why I like most of the music I do. I understand people might feel different and that is so cool but for me, I don't rate the self titled as much as I do them. It's a classic Blink sound I love.

Journey408 09/13/12 02:40 PM

new Blink album/song title?
