I have to second this. I couldn't get into any of his material past EIT.

pleasedontask 10/08/12 04:30 PM

EIT is still probably his strongest album but at the same time I dig the sound and direction he's going in much more. Hopefully he can combine the two.

EndlessPrisoner 10/08/12 04:30 PM

As I always say, it's been for me that the first big album of any of his projects ends up being one of my favorites of all times...let's hope this continues.

JamesMichael 10/08/12 04:40 PM

I really wish SoCo would just record a new album. I'd be so stoked out of my mind if that ever happened.

drewbaldy 10/08/12 04:44 PM

People and Things is highly underrated. I'll admit it took it a year to grow on me, but it is now my favorite JM album.

Edit: excited to hear new material by him. I live in Florida and was seriously considering making the trip to see them in LA, but tickets were almost 300 dollars on stub hub. A little out of my price range considering the ticket to see the show would cost more than the plane ticket to get there.

I used to really not care for People and Things at all and just stopped caring about Jacks completely. But over the past few months I've been listening to it non stop and surprisingly liking the second half of the album more than the first. It was definitely a grower for me.

Nice nice nice

KenneyBN 10/08/12 05:27 PM

Was there ever any doubt?

gr33ndayfr3ak 10/08/12 05:42 PM

I'd honestly be disappointed if SoCo made another album. Andrew has evolved so much since then, it wouldn't seem quite right.

kismet 10/08/12 05:46 PM

Yay! I can't wait. I highly doubt he'll put out material that I don't enjoy.

out THIS

pleasedontask 10/08/12 06:02 PM

also don't understand people who want SoCo to get back together, doesn't even make sense with what Andrew's doing now-- "wait" off the greatest hits song for example, could be a Jack's track and no one would know.

MasterKenobi 10/08/12 06:40 PM

agree

Except it is an old soco demo... It's from the galaxy sessions as was Letters to Noelle.

Right, and the old demo sounds like SoCo, and the reunioned band version sounds like Jack's. that's exactly my point.

derekjd 10/08/12 08:48 PM

Yes. Please and thank you. People and Things is probably my favorite album he's put out -- it just really speaks to me.

COREhorizon 10/08/12 09:13 PM

Love anything he puts out

chrisstahl 10/08/12 09:35 PM

He's probably always writing new music.

parkerisjolley 10/08/12 10:21 PM

best news of the day. and i don't get the hate on people and things, yea its not as good as everything in transit and glass passenger but its still a freakin good cd, i'll agree though its definitely a grower

This is honestly the only JM song I've ever heard and really fell in love with. There were a couple of other songs from that album that I thought were okay, but I really disliked everything after it. It's too bad, because I liked SoCo a lot when I was younger.

mbao 10/09/12 12:30 AM

well that was fast

not that I'm complaining though, I've loved all Jack's Mannequin albums

sorry buddy, diehard andrew fans can tell the difference.

PetitnaindesĪles 10/09/12 05:40 AM

hopefully it'll sound like the last JM song that was streamed weeks ago

jdr277 10/09/12 07:43 AM

Andrew Mcmahon is 30yrs old... Why the fuck would anyone want him to go back and write a sappy emo SoCo album. I will always love SoCo for what it gave me at the time it was around but for Andrew to make one now would just feel wrong and forced. Plus Jack's just sounds like an evolution of SoCo anyway so what's the point of moving backwards? Anyway I'm excited to hear this new stuff, sadly I do agree that EIT was the best Jack's album but I still think he can top it, hopefully with this fresh start!

alright, maybe my ears aren't trained or tuned as well as yours then, mr. diehard. But it you're trying to tell me Wait sounds like any of the old SoCo tracks -- I don't buy it.

hiddentrack 10/09/12 09:26 AM

Yessssss

chrisCcoan 10/09/12 10:08 AM

great song writer and even more of a great human.

chrisCcoan 10/09/12 10:18 AM

when I was in 19 and listening to North I am really pissed I didn't enjoy it as much as I should. I wish they released something like that NOW. Being 19 I just wanted tracks like leaving through the window, something fun, poppy.. Listening to North now I can relate to it so much better now I feel like it's their Pinkerton, or nfg's coming home for me.. Took some time for sure. I might have not been as patient back in the day but I am totally loving North 9 years later.
