Green Day Release "Stray Heart"

Green Day has released a new song entitled "Stray Heart" off their second album this year, ĄDos!, which can be streamed on Consequence of Sound.

Keagan Ilvonen 10/08/12 07:18 PM

Better than basically all of Uno!

sammyboy516 10/08/12 07:25 PM

Wow, it's awesome!

tdlyon 10/08/12 07:26 PM

This song is fucking fantastic. It's a perfect blend of Foxboro Hot Tubs and Green Day's signature pop punk. Amazing song.

BurymeWalkAway 10/08/12 07:27 PM

Hmmm why couldn't they do songs this good on Uno?

Jason Tate 10/08/12 07:30 PM

Wait, this is good? Bar has been infinitely lowered after Uno I guess.

BrendanMachow 10/08/12 07:30 PM

I have a feeling Dos is going to be the Green Day album I've been waiting for. The clip of Lazy Bones got me incredibly excited, and this song cemented the vibe of this record. CAN'T WAIT.

WasteSomeTime 10/08/12 07:32 PM

I really liked Uno

prefix-core 10/08/12 07:33 PM

Nothing about this track surprised me at all, but -- I'm digging' it immensely!

buddah knome 10/08/12 07:33 PM

I like it! still don't see how people say this is better than uno though because it sounds like its from uno in my opinion.

Elscorcho2008 10/08/12 07:34 PM

Reminds me of something off of Warning mixed with The Foxboro Hot tubs

Me gusta.

fishguts182 10/08/12 07:34 PM

sounds good, some parts of the bassline reminds me of Weezer I want you too

t3hmilkman923 10/08/12 07:34 PM

digging it.

RyanGarner 10/08/12 07:35 PM

Wow this is actually very solid. I wasn't expecting this after how bad Uno was.

dmcaloon 10/08/12 07:35 PM

This reminds me a bit of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous at points. I love it. Definitely didn't expect anything good after Uno, but I guess that was just a fluke?

tdlyon 10/08/12 07:37 PM

I don't know why everyone hated Uno so much. I haven't stopped listening to it since it came out.

qwerty22 10/08/12 07:40 PM

For those of you with high hopes for Dos...

EastCoastVans 10/08/12 07:40 PM

Infinitely better than anything on Uno. It sounds way more fleshed out, everything on Uno just seemed like a half-baked concept.

Kris_Gontz9 10/08/12 07:40 PM

Way better than most of Uno, Indeed... Really good.

But after the shitfest that was that record i won't let my expectations go high...

djrossstar2009 10/08/12 07:42 PM

Uno! is incredible. It upsets me that it has become trendy in 2012 to hate on Green Day. These same people also complained about AI/21CB being too serious & political and kept wishing GD would make another Dookie -- Then they make Uno! which sounds like Dookie/Nimrod and the same people say, "I hate it. Sounds so simple compared to AI/21CB. No originality."

These SAME people claim Warning is their favorite album, meanwhile, that album sold the least so what are the odds that EVERYONE loved it the most!?

I agree that this song sounds like shit, but judging from every other clip I've heard from Dos, it will be really easy to ignore one bad song.

I thought Kill The DJ and Troublemaker were the worst songs GD had ever written. Suddenly, a new contender has emerged.

What.The.Fuck.

I agree with everything here.

Uno does not sound like Dookie.

THANK. YOU.

djrossstar2009 10/08/12 07:45 PM

Thanks TDLyon.

Been a fan since 1994 so I have heard it all. Stray Heart sounds like a mainstream hit. I can picture it on the radio 20 years from now. I think the real issue is that 99% of people on the site love Blink-182 more. They would never dare say that Blink put out a bad song.

tdlyon 10/08/12 07:45 PM

Let's keep this thread focused on how good this song is instead of how shitty Nightlife is. It's rare you see a positive Green Day thread here, and I'd like to keep it that way.

Blink's put out plenty of bad songs. But I must say, nothing as bad as whatever you want to call that song up there.

shwaz499 10/08/12 07:49 PM

green day is no longer relevant. this is not good.

Understandable, but I personally can't do that. I always think an album is only as good as its worst song. Sure there will be a few decent tracks on each of the three albums, but I'm not willing to pay for something when it has this kind of filler.

plenty? maybe 2-3 off the last album... but I mean I don't think there's one bad (as in generally disliked) song on self titled, TOYPAJI, or enema.

YES I AGREE 100 PERCENT Uno! is great. seriously. people just hate on green day for no reason

djrossstar2009 10/08/12 07:53 PM

Wait ... so if a band isn't relevant (popular/mainstream) that automatically means we shouldn't listen to them anymore? That is the definition of being trendy!!

Should I go sell my collection to save up for fun., The Lumineers, Neon Trees and The Black Keys because they sell well!?

I am over Green Day. Mumford & Sons forever.

Any idea who Lady Cobra is?

djrossstar2009 10/08/12 07:55 PM

She is a friend of mine. Her name is Monica. She sings for The Mystic Knights of the Cobra from SF. Youtube their songs ... El Camino, Grappling Hook, Text Messaging Slut etc!

westendriot 10/08/12 08:00 PM

I love this song. Can't wait for Dos.

JonnyJonnyJonny 10/08/12 08:25 PM

I really like the feel of this song. That being said, the first part of the solo is retarded. I would much rather jam to this and most of Uno over Neighborhoods.

I just wanted to quote DJRosstar2009's reply to this comment, because he didn't quote you and he makes a good point.

They sold over 100,000 albums last week. I'd say they're still relevant.

FNF 10/08/12 08:32 PM

I really don't see how people could hate Uno and love this...

Wow. Just wow. This is what the people on this site are becoming? You're trying a little too hard to be hipster.

I actually really dig this. It's got a cool Gorillaz vibe to it.

zporter92 10/08/12 08:55 PM

Yeah i'm actually excited to hear that song in full. Sounds nothing like Green Day, which has me excited. If that was the whole album, I could see why everyone would be complaining, but it's one song. It's not like any of us could produce something better lol
