Love it. Much better than their last two.

Jack Appleby 10/11/12 09:54 AM

I'll be curious to see if people share my passion for it. Again, truly believe this to be their best.

Steve Alcala 10/11/12 09:55 AM

Too frickin good.

stereokiller 10/11/12 09:56 AM

Little Tyrants is unbelievable starting 2:10. Holy crap.

zsoty27 10/11/12 09:58 AM

I think this record is phenomenal! Unquestionably their best effort next to Cities. It may be the best album of the year for me. :-)

arodmvp 10/11/12 09:58 AM

Desires is amazing.

Jeff_Ryan 10/11/12 09:59 AM

I've only listened to it twice and I've been busy so I haven't really gotten to pay attention to the lyrics or anything, but it sounds really good

Love them so much

cappslock 10/11/12 10:00 AM

Your review was spot-on. It's amazing. Their most cohesive effort to date. So proud to call myself a fan of Anberlin.

arodmvp 10/11/12 10:02 AM

Does Modern Age remind anyone else of Evanescence?

CastlesXClouds 10/11/12 10:02 AM

The drums that start the record off>>
holy shit what a refreshing kick in the balls. dig it.

MGAdams 10/11/12 10:03 AM

Also, sidebar, but is anyone else catching the very obvious Tooth and Nail references in Type Three?

Blake Solomon 10/11/12 10:05 AM

oh snap yes

Yep. This is pretty much the record I wanted to hear after Cities.

warriorsam 10/11/12 10:08 AM

I feel like I need to hold off on hearing this until I can listen to the album in my car for a couple hours on the freeway.

Must... resist...

loj 10/11/12 10:12 AM

unbelievably taken aback by this. this does not disappoint at all.

SpyKi 10/11/12 10:14 AM

Love how fucking poppy the chorus of Intentions is.

BrendanMachow 10/11/12 10:16 AM

two songs in and damn does this album hit hard. can't wait to hear what the rest has in store.

Zack Zarrillo 10/11/12 10:20 AM

Not a huge fan of this band, but really enjoy this record.

cjudge90 10/11/12 10:24 AM

fuck YES gettin right into it. love the feel already

EDIT: this album is unreal

loj 10/11/12 10:25 AM

guys this album is perfect.

jtalep 10/11/12 10:26 AM

LITTLE TYRANTS! AMAZING!

mrgenious 10/11/12 10:28 AM

I love how rough Steven's vocals are in Little Tyrants.

ThaRealNC 10/11/12 10:28 AM

Guys. Guys. This is so good. I don't even.

Readyfuels 10/11/12 10:29 AM

Flawless.

Ferrari333SP 10/11/12 10:32 AM

Wow! Love this album! Rock on!

leftapart 10/11/12 10:32 AM

Whomever wrote the review said something to the effect of 'waiting for this album since 2007'. Well for me, it's since 2005. I couldn't get into any of the last 3 albums at all. What's with putting a horse as your album cover anyways? I haven't finished listening to this album yet, but there's not one song I dislike or wanna skip thus far. Great job Anberlin!

BrendanMachow 10/11/12 10:33 AM

that opening to "Desires" is too good. this is in my top three albums of the year for sure.

How can you not like Cities?

anamericangod 10/11/12 10:36 AM

Musically, their best album to date, no doubt.

Lyrically and as a whole, I'll have to spend some more time with it to see how I feel about it compared to their other records.

Very good album.

I had the exact same read on it, but Stephen denied it, and kind of laughed at the thought. Interview goes up on Monday.

riel_beckham7 10/11/12 10:38 AM

modern age is easily one of the very best anberlin songs i've ever heard. little tyrants and desires are huge. this album is fantastic

A lot of good tracks on New Surrender as well, IMO.

I'm so happy that this stream supports mobile.

I like New Surrender but it was really weak compared to Cities and NTFP imo and I can definitely understand how someone could like those albums and not like NS.

splitsecond 10/11/12 10:47 AM

I was going to wait until I could get something higher fidelity than a stream.... but I couldn't. And oh my lord is this good. Review was right, career defining. I've loved every one of their albums for different reasons, but THIS is Anberlin.

When you use the name of the compilation album your old record label released without your approval in one of your songs, it is undoubtedly about them.

Capulet 10/11/12 10:50 AM

un REAL

Symphonicaxiom 10/11/12 10:51 AM

Holy....that was unbelievable. Fantastic album!

Rysker6 10/11/12 10:51 AM

Resisting the urge until I buy it. Either way, I get the feeling I will love this.

jdplasma11 10/11/12 10:53 AM

How's it in terms of repetition of lyrics, all? That's what killed Dark for me. Only so many times I can hear "CLOSER CLOSER CLOOOOSSEEERRRRRRRR"/ songs that have two lines in between choruses.

Stephin_DC 10/11/12 10:56 AM

I guess I'm the only one thats not blown away after first listen.
My first impression is you can turn up the guitars and synth as loud as you want, won't matter if the hooks aren't there
Definite improvment on the last one though, I couldnt even get through that in one with one full listen

vital blows dark is the way out of the water in every aspect. musically, lyrically, melodically, tonally, etc etc etc

jdplasma11 10/11/12 10:59 AM

So what you're saying is that you're not sure? Gotcha.

eriatarka24 10/11/12 10:59 AM

Fucking perfect. Fantastic.

Intentions, Desires and Modern Age are my favorites.

Amazing album from start to finish. Probably going to end up my favorite of theirs...

spezialk 10/11/12 10:59 AM

Found the album for streaming on a different site a few hours ago.. holy HELL, this album is insanely fantastic. To say it's their best work to date is an understatement. It's even better than that.

jdplasma11 10/11/12 11:00 AM

I'm only concerned about its staying power. A lot of us, including me, LOVED Dark at first listen but over time, grew disappointed. Now I know what to look out for (for me it was only the lyrics/repetition that killed Dark) so as long as this is better in terms of that, I know I'll love it.
