New Tegan and Sara Song

In the replies you can stream a new Tegan and Sara song titled "I'm Not Your Hero." It's off the band's upcoming album Heartthrob, due out this January.

I really think they've gotten better with every album so I'm looking forward to this

runningohfive 10/21/12 04:51 PM

I love them so much. I'm enjoying this a lot.

adamoflazzarath 10/21/12 05:09 PM

aradiantsunrise 10/21/12 05:13 PM

Like it a lot.

jasonmeowz 10/21/12 05:20 PM

was kind of crap live but this is good.

mka12992 10/21/12 05:26 PM

Don't think I'm digging this direction, to be honest... We'll see when the album comes out, I guess.

Say Hello 87 10/21/12 05:40 PM

sargentlgfuad 10/21/12 06:32 PM

I don't think I've ever been as disappointed in a band's direction as I am right now with this.

Where is Tegan & Sara? This is so so damn bad.

signal to noise 10/21/12 06:43 PM

so...are they trying to write big hit songs now?

Maybe pressured to do so from their label? Are they still on a major?

sohcampco 10/21/12 07:14 PM

I think that after SIX records these girls have earned the right to do whatever they want. I'm kind of surprised by the direction they decided to take, but I can understand wanting a change.

I'm not in love with these songs, but I respect them, and you guys should too :)

kaylasananjou 10/21/12 08:06 PM

I like how everyone missed that the point of this song is that they don't have to do what their fans want and that they can write whatever type of music they want. They can't rewrite The Con forever, and I'd rather see them happy and writing whatever they want than trying to cater to jaded fans holding onto a sound they wrote when they were completely different people.

Plus, mixed in a live setting with all their old songs, these mesh wonderfully. It's great to have some dance jams with beautiful lyrics.

I am absolutely loving the direction they are taking for this new album. Wasn't sold on the live version, but love the studio one.

They CAN do whatever they want. I don't have to like it. I'm not pissed or bashing them for taking their sound in this direction, I just don't particularly like it.

they are on a major, but I can't see that being the case.

Reece Wagner 10/21/12 08:41 PM

I actually like this sound a lot, complements their voices a lot better honestly than their jagged indie sound ever did for the most part. Then again, they basically just sound like Metric now.

CBKRP 10/21/12 08:44 PM

Im liking the new songs and are quite glad they aren't being the Indie Coffee shop duo anymore..

Ryanlolz 10/22/12 12:09 AM

Diggin' it hard.

That's what I was thinking too. This song could almost have come off Synthetica

Why not? Countless bands have stated that majors have heavily pressured them to release hits? I love how people on this site think every single case of a band regressing and making more accessible music is an artistic decision and not a label/financial one.

SpyKi 10/22/12 04:25 AM

From the first two songs I feel like this could end up being my favourite from them.

Well, they kinda blew that joint with So Jealous.

fenderstrat383 10/22/12 07:47 AM

I'm not a huge Tegan and Sara fan, nor have I ever been, just because I haven't listened to a lot of their music. From the responses, I've gathered that this is a very new direction for them to be taking. But, I dig the vibe of this song.

evanmeindl 10/22/12 12:07 PM

I really like this direction for them. Love it.

Merkin 10/22/12 02:09 PM

they dont want to write the same record twice, theyve said that before, this is a new sound. deal.

its obviously a possibility, but they have access to many more artists with less personality to do that for them.

Yeah, because enjoying pop music and wanting to make some is inherently regression. Stop talking before you sprain something.

tefarez 10/23/12 10:01 AM

so awesome all the time

II never understood why people take it so personally when you criticize a band they like. But you're right, labels/producers have never in the history of music pressured an artist into writing radio singles. I disagree with idiots who bash pop, but I also disagree with the mentality that's taken over this Site in which more accessible=better. Don't be a douche because you're butthurt over pop music.

Mr. November 10/23/12 03:21 PM

and bands have never once changed their sound just because they wanted to.

everyone knows people only play pop music to appeal to more people and make more money, no one actually enjoys it or just wants to try something different.

ale5875 10/24/12 10:32 AM

I've never listened to any song by Tegan and Sara before, so I don't know if I'd prefer this style or the one you say they had before, but I like this song.
