Taylor Swift To Sell Over One Million

Taylor Swift is projected to sell over a million copies of her new album, Red, and will possibly surpass Lady Gaga's mark of 1.1 million from May 2011.

Holly HoX! 10/23/12 09:08 AM

And the world turns....

TheRealJohnOC 10/23/12 09:09 AM

Good for her.

Aperi Oculos 10/23/12 09:11 AM

All in thanks to Papa John's

RockVocalPower 10/23/12 09:12 AM

It allegedly shipped quadruple-platinum already: http://www.spin.com/articles/taylor-...=spintwitte r

EDIT: Spin was wrong. 4 million singles sold already. Still impressive.

irthesteve 10/23/12 09:12 AM

Umm... I heard 4 million

Quote:

Taylor Swift is selling music like it's the '90s. New album Red, which came out yesterday, has already sold more than four million copies, according to ABC's Good Morning America.

EDIT: nevermind

twinsies!

luqmanhakim 10/23/12 09:13 AM

It's basically her selling her 'name' because album is no good.

Ryan Gardner 10/23/12 09:16 AM

Crazy well deserved. Album is so good. Look for my review tomorrow

RyneOh1040 10/23/12 09:17 AM

Regardless if you love or hate her, you have to respect that she can consistently put up these numbers when 90% of records can touch a gold certification in their entire run.

Amongster 10/23/12 09:18 AM

Speak Now went platinum its first week, and as much of a step backward this album it is, I wouldn't expect it to sell any less.

about3fitty 10/23/12 09:19 AM

these numbers have been inflated by pizza

Jason Tate 10/23/12 09:21 AM

And the trend of really crappy music selling REALLY well ... continues! Water, also is still wet.

At least it's not Brokencyde.

Holly HoX! 10/23/12 09:32 AM

The extent of Taylor coverage on this site is really, really weird.

crf1895 10/23/12 09:32 AM

this is easily bigger than N'Sync's 2 million back in '00. two platinum first weeks in a row is just unbelievable.

makes me think about how big will Adele's 23 or 24 debut. 21 may be the last diamond album ever.

Considering this, do you think Jason will be inviting you to the AP.net Christmas party?

It blows my mind that 21 will be certified diamond before it's two years old. That's damn impressive for any record, even in previous decades.

RobisLegend 10/23/12 09:48 AM

Just goes to show that with enough marketing and people behind the scenes, any talentless hack can succeed.

So it's the only album you've listened to this year, or...?

incognitojones 10/23/12 09:54 AM

That's impressive, and I feel like I haven't really heard anyone talking about it outside of this site. Maybe I'll check it out...

StephenYoung 10/23/12 09:55 AM

That's what you were referencing, right? Because I got that.

Jake Jenkins 10/23/12 10:20 AM

album is fantastic.

jacobcm 10/23/12 10:21 AM

Disappointed in the album, there's a few good tunes on there, though. Not surprised at sales.

cowlord 10/23/12 10:23 AM

Actually less than I thought. I guess a lot of her fans that are buying her album probably bought digital.

Archael 10/23/12 10:33 AM

Jason949 10/23/12 10:39 AM

nah

Journey408 10/23/12 10:51 AM

good for her, make all that money while you're young & you still can
she can probably retire when she's 25

Who Is Ryan? 10/23/12 10:53 AM

Good for her. I don't really care for her, but it's pretty funny how people are getting upset about this in here

Also, someone in the Papa John's post mentioned that they saw that RITE AID was selling the album. I can now confirm this, as I saw their digital sign advertising it this morning...

Awesome for her. Well deserved. Album is excellent.

Willing to bet if people put aside preconceived notions of her and gave it a listen, they'd at least see growth. Not guaranteeing you will love it, but at the least you should respect what she's done with this album rather than blindly pass judgment.

Ha you say the same thing in every thread. You know, some people just don't like it because.

DeathOrGlory 10/23/12 11:04 AM

I may not have liked a single song I've heard from it but good for her.

xName Takenx 10/23/12 11:12 AM
