The Color Morale Talk Line-Up Changes
The Color Morale (Rise Records) clear up rumors about what's going on with their band.
|
I'll be talking with Garret Rapp soon, quote me with questions I guess.
|
as long as the singer and drummer stays in the band i am not worried
|
I enjoy this band.
|
Enjoyed their last two albums, excited what they have in store next

I wonder WCAR songs that guy worked on.
|
Damn. Ramon was the most approachable guy in the band. When I saw them, I really wanted to meet Garret but his hood was up and he was reading a book most of the time. I didn't want to disturb him.
I wish they would have collaborated with a better songwriter in the scene than Josh. All of WCAR's new stuff is so boring. Kellen from Memphis May Fire would have been better. Quote:

Steve had been one of my fav drummers I've ever seen live since him and Garrett were in their previous band. Such a talented dude and he keeps getting better. |

Well, drummers and vocalists build and create off the melodies first made by a guitarist in a band. So, if you like this band that much you should be interested in who's playing guitar. |
I'm wondering how the new album will turn out, garret screams and sings now so its gunna be diff
|
I believe Ryan Pulice was the bassist in the band Rosaline that broke up about a year and a half ago if I remember correctly. Really nice dude, at least he got to tour with a bigger name for a while.

No way, Justin their bassist did screams on their last album |
The singer is a real nice guy just needs to work on his vocals live. I hope he isn't leaving.

What? That's kind of a big generalization, man. Plenty of songs start as vocal melodies or simple chord progressions that lack melody. There are songs that have been started by an idea on drums as well and the application of chords/melody to the rhythmic structure that they create. Also, some times the vocalist is the one who writes the initial guitar parts and teaches them to the guitarist so they can build from there. This isn't meant as any sort of disrespect or anything though, just saying. |

Didn't say that doesn't happen. But as a musician that's been in a band it almost always comes down to having guitar rhythms first. The drummer can't just start jamming and expect everyone to write off them. Not to mention drummers can't create harmonies or melodies, just beats. And vocalists, well most of the time they're on their own somewhere writing nonsense. |

I know what you're saying about it happening a majority of the time in most bands, but as a musician who's been in numerous bands, toured, and taught music for a living, I can tell you from my own experience the things I said happen, do in fact happen. I've written plenty of songs that started with a vocal melody, I've also written plenty of songs that started with a drum idea that had the right feel and drive that I was going for. Also, the drummer in my current band writes a lot of the vocal harmonies and also does some backing vocals. I'm doing vocals in this particular band as well and can assure you every song that's been written for it was written by me and I taught the parts to our guitar players. I've also had songs start as basic chord changes with no melody and build from there, and even songs that I wrote on piano and transferred to guitar in order to more fit the style. Again, this isn't meant to be disrespectful by any means. I see your point; I just feel as though it was a broad generalization. Not looking to argue at all though. |
