Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen Sued Over "Good Time"
Owl City, Matt Thiessen and Carly Rae Jepsen are among those being sued by Ally Burnett, a songwriter who alleges "Good Time" infringes on her track "Ah, It's a Love Song." Listen to both and judge for yourself in the replies.

I don't hear any resemblance except for the "whoas" sound similar. Definitely nowhere near enough to sue. With that being said, I really enjoyed her song.
|
Not seeing any similarity, sorry.

both songs are infringing on my ears

Carly Rae Jepsen said "oh" a bunch of times, over and over, in a pattern slightly similar to the way you did in your song that maybe 20 people have listened to before this lawsuit came about (and odds are none of those were the defendants). "OMG COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT!"
|
There isn't a chance in hell this case will hold up in court. This is just a struggling songwriter trying to pry an easy and small settlement from lawyers who have better things to do than litigate this.
|
I see...the first half of the 'Oh' section is the exact same. Can Burnett win this?
|
Oh fuck off. I don't care for Owl City or Carly Rae, but no. Not even close. I don't expect to even see a settlement out of this one. No way I can see this chick winning this.
Edit: This screams "Hey, listen to my song!" I suppose any publicity is good publicity these days. |
publicity for the win
|
Just an indie artist trying to get out there publically, somehow. She will not win this case.

i kinda like the ally burnet song. but i dont see the similarities, only in the "ohs".. it's too much of a reach
