ABSOLUTExclusive: Old Gray

Holy crap you guys. Breathe in; breathe out. Take a moment to settle yourself, then forget all that noise. We have 4 emotional, loud, make-you-think tunes from Old Gray streaming on their AP.net Profile. Their newest 7", laboriously titled Everything I Let Go & The Things I Refuse To, comes out this Sunday, and is a thoughtfully brazen and aggressively youthful foray into what it's like to feel like you've lost it all, even if you're only 23. Some of that might already make you rethink jamming this, but stop. Old Gray make it all seem interesting and so cathartic that you'll probably fire your overpriced therapist and hire these band dudes. Head to the AP.net Profile to check out the tunes early and go to the replies for album art, tracklisting and preorder info.

Great band. Makes it better that they're pals with The World Is A Beautiful Place... and Deer Leap.

Their latest EP before this release is impressive:

Fame<Infamy 11/09/12 11:07 AM

Yeah, this is phenomenal. One of my favourite bands going right now.

dragani 11/09/12 11:29 AM

Does anyone know when exactly this drops? I read on the band's tumblr they were thinking of putting it out Nov. 12th, but those other sites are saying pre-orders start on the 11th, which is a bit odd if it comes out the next day.

brandon_260 11/09/12 11:33 AM

This is really really good.

circletheworld 11/09/12 11:38 AM

So good. Happy it's finally out, I think I've been listening to this since september. Really awesome to see someone I know from the internet actually get recognition, because OG is one of the best at what they do.

First off, thank you for posting this, Blake, and thank you to everyone else for the kind feedback.

We'll be posting the album to our Bandcamp page and it will be available to download on Sunday, November 11th. Pre-orders will also be available at this time. I don't know where the information about November 12th was seen, but it must have been a typo on our part; sorry.

Thanks again!

PS. stephen you're cute =*

Yeah, whether or not you like his voice, you can't deny his lyrics are nothing short of amazing.

And I can't wait for this release to hit Bandcamp. Hurry up, I want my FLAC like yesterday!

I loved the demo. checking this out now. digging so far.

codeseven 12/04/12 02:12 AM

I had to come back to this thread and thank you for posting this. AP has gotten me into a lot of bands, but this is probably my absolute favorite. The lyrics are just amazing - up there with some of the best I've ever heard. Music is outstanding. Vocals, as rough as they are, are absolute perfect. Everything about this band and their music is gold. I have GOT to catch these guys and soon.

And to them being described as "fantastic screamo with hints of post-rock"... I'd simply just call them a melodic hardcore band. I'm not getting into a genre argument, just helping you be able to describe them with something that rolls off the tongue a little better. A long time ago, NC was home to some of the best melodic hardcore bands ever, and this band is bringing back that nostalgia for me.

And just to add, my favorite release of theirs is Do I Dare Disturb The Universe.

codeseven 12/26/12 07:59 PM

My brother got me their Everything I Let Go... 7" for Christmas as well as two Cameron Boucher's Set Sail Towards Hell cassettes. Again, this band is absolutely amazing.
