Pentimento Release New Record For Free

In light of recent legal issues between Panic Records and Paper + Plastick Records, Pentimento have released their debut self-titled record for free.

GetUpAndrew 11/13/12 10:50 AM

Best dudes. I wish 'em a lucky and successful 2013.

AReiss 11/13/12 10:59 AM

It sucks that they seem like such great dudes, really sincere and forward, and yet they're caught in this shit. Definitely donating/picking up merch and I hope other people feel compelled to do the same.

The_Effort 11/13/12 11:11 AM

Situation sucks. Band is great. I'll be downloading and donating once I'm off work.

Wutz 11/13/12 11:24 AM

...hmmm...what's the deal with Panic Records? I'm curious to hear what their side of the whole thing is.

Panic must think Pentimento are going to be huge if they're willing to spend that much money (in lawyer fees alone...) and go to those lengths to stop/alter the Pentimento release.

I'd agree with them: Pentimento are awesome and they should be huge. I'm really looking forward to hearing this record and donating to these guys.

_><_ 11/13/12 11:32 AM

Circles is such a great song. Can't wait to hear the rest of the album.

brandon_260 11/13/12 11:33 AM

Great record. Very excited the band is still releasing it. Once I figure out my financial situation, I'll certainly be dropping them a few bucks.

ViTOP 11/13/12 11:38 AM

TheWonderYears 11/13/12 11:50 AM

Record is fantastic. Reminds me of Transit's "Keep This To Yourself" in regards to how much I love/relate to the lyrics. Great album.

Zack Zarrillo 11/13/12 11:51 AM

Support these dudes

Thomas Nassiff 11/13/12 11:58 AM

Top five album of the year for me.

Unfortunate that this is happening to dudes who seem real and put out awesome music.

kaylasananjou 11/13/12 01:20 PM

These guys are the best dudes. If you can, give them some money, please. They deserve it.

blackmold 11/13/12 02:34 PM

Downloading now. Will buy merch and / or donate if I like it enough. This is really cool of them tho.

overitsi22 11/13/12 03:30 PM

Such an awesome album, definitely gonna check out the show they are playing with Such Gold and After the Fall in Rochester, pretty stoked for that, they will definitely be getting some of my money at that point.

pulsar 11/13/12 03:53 PM

Listening to the record right now. It's fantastic. It sucks these guys are having to go through this bullshit, this album deserves a legitimate release and push.

kaylasananjou 11/13/12 04:34 PM

Watching Panic Records trying to make themselves look like the victim on Facebook is hysterical.

Alison1488 11/13/12 04:37 PM

I'm so pissed at Panic Records for ruining something this huge for the band. They deserve to sell this album and reap the rewards from their hardwork.

steve187 11/13/12 04:55 PM

just heard them now for the first time cause of all this shit. good band and record

guitarguy211 11/13/12 05:09 PM

Anyone care to give me the non-finger-pointing summary of what's going on?

Alison1488 11/13/12 07:15 PM

Panic's FB is hilarious right now.

bobbyblacks 11/13/12 10:09 PM

Really rare to have someone shake your hand and introduce themselves after a simple compliment on a set. Jeremiah and Mike both did that. Just genuine dudes in a fucking terrible situation. I hope this sparks bands other than Hostage Calm to air out some grievances with Panic records. There are always new labels forming that can do a comparable job to Panic and I would hate to see this keep happening, which apparently is a lot

I just checked and didn't see anything regarding it. Did they delete it all or something?

"You can believe the spin of Pentimento if you'd like. The band is always the victim in every situation when it comes to band/label disputes and if you side with them and call fowl on Panic Records, that's your choice. Remember there are two sides to every story. I honestly do not care. Pentimento signed a contract and were happy with Panic Records on up until they were offered a deal from another label in which I tried to negotiate the end to their contract so that all parties would be satisfied. Pentimento are the ones that introduced their lawyer into the dealings and I responded with a lawyer as well."

Thanks. I was interested to read what they had to say.

The comments are a good read, too. Panic Records is definitely on the defense here. Either way the album is great and if anything they appear to be getting more publicity this way.

Yeah. I don't know much about the situation, but I know pentimento is a great band and their new album (at least on first listen) is fantastic. I also know that Panic Records put out releases for a couple of my favorite bands like Another Breath and The Effort (obviously), so I don't think I could completely boycott them. I do hope there's a physical release for this pentimento album on another label in the future so I can pick it up though.

kismet 11/14/12 12:53 PM

Loving it. These guys are great.
