Steel Train To Play One-Off NYC Show in January
Steel Train will be getting together to play a one-off show at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City on January 5th.
Would love to see this. fun.'s great and all, but I miss me some Steel Train.
Not surprising considering how well fun. are doing.
Still a bummer, though. |
I really wish they had plans beyond this show but I'll certainly be there. Love the hell out of this band.
I really really want a new Steel Train album. I know fun. has turned into the priority, but I think Jack has more to say.

Really hope I can get tickets to this show. I've missing this band a lot lately. I'm sure it's impossible for Jack to do both at the level fun. has grown to and I'm still hoping that Steel Train is only quiet temporarily. Glad they're doing this though, it's been weird not knowing what was going on with Steel Train as fun. got bigger and bigger.
I will, without a doubt, be there. Fucking stoked.
I kinda lost interest in fun. in 2011, I still really love Steel Train. One of the best live bands ever.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ME.
Glad to hear this. Bummed it's just one show. I reall miss this band...
They never broke up, right? He's just focusing on fun.?
I would love to see them go on tour with another singer. Not to get rid of Jack, just so they can keep playing and having fun.
I miss this band, theyre so good live and it's such a bummer that we are going to get more Top40-fun. and less/no Steel Train

This stinks, but I understand. Their self titled was by far amazing. I was eager for a follow up. Only time will tell.
Fucking fun. I'm so sick of them, and the better band might not exist anymore? I'm not happy.
Really bummed it's just news on one show.
Thinking about flying out to catch this show. Steel Train are so fucking great. |
Really looking forward to this show.
I will forever love this band.
I like Steel Train more than fun., so this is kind of a bummer for me. At least they aren't breaking up.
yessssss
I've never had the opportunity to see them live. I'll definitely try to get tickets to see them with the GF.
Last time I saw them was Boozle 2010. The main stages were back to back. Steel Train was on at like 12 on main stage A. Right after their set, fun was on main stage B. Jack ran from one stage to another and was so out of breath. Still put on a fantastic show with both bands.
fuck everything. congrats to jack and nate and andrew for fun. and everything it's become for them but, mannnnn. steel train.... mannnnnnn.
I'm so over Fun. I'd honestly rather have them break up just so I could have my Steel Train back.
It just sucks cause it took over 3 years for Steel Train to produce a follow up to Trampoline and then almost right after their S/T- they faded away. Lame.
sweet band
Rabble, rabble, rabble. "I hate fun now that they're big. Bring back Steel Train because I can still brag that I know about a band that's not on the radio."
This site. SMH So happy that jack is doing this, but glad he's going the better route and continue making music with fun and keeping Steel Train to what it should be; a side project. |
lol @ everyone hating on fun.
I enjoy this band soooooo much more than fun. I will definitely be in attendance. Here's hoping that there's more to come afterwards from these guys.

Steel Train was never meant to be a side project. It was a full-fledge band long before fun. came together. Personally, I am fans of both bands, but I think there is more quality music in Steel Train. I've been to my share of live shows for both bands, and Steel Train brings so much more to a show. |

I couldn't agree more. Both are good but as we know, popularity does not equal quality. We all should have gone to the fun/steel train tour in 2011... |
Fun. was the side band. Remember how in its early days, Jack didn't even do all the shows because he was busy with Steel Train? Clearly that shifted when fun. took off so hugely. The Steel Train/fun. tour was pretty awesome.
i think there should be a Steel Train/The Format tour...but that probably will never happen
Started listening to them just recently. They have some excellent tracks, but have yet to really grow on me.
Just got my ticket. Excited.
Got mine too!
Looks like they added a show at Maxwell's in Hoboken the night before, since the Bowery Ballroom show sold out so quickly. Glad they did this instead of moving to Terminal 5, which is what I thought was going to happen.
