Hellogoodbye Sign With Old Friends Records
Hellogoodbye signs to Old Friends Records and plans to put out their next record in 2013. Video announcement in the replies.

"We’ve had some exciting news in our pockets for a while over here at hellogoodbye: our next full length record (which we’re about halfway through tracking with producer Joe Chiccarelli) will be released next year by the new label Old Friends Records! Not since we released our first high school demo cassette on ‘Awkward Teenagers singing about Dawson’s Creek Records’ have we been involved with such a serendipitously named record label! Back when I was an awkward teen singing about Dawson’s Creek, I worked at the offices with the good folks at Old Friends. It rules to be circling back around with good people and we’ve got a bunch of great stuff on the horizon like: a Would It Kill You? re-release (special vinyl and a live acoustic party set bundle) &: this new record, which is shaping up to be my favorite bit of work I’ve tackled! So much more to come!" - Forrest Kline The band is currently in the studio with multi-Grammy award winning producer Joe Chiccarelli (The Shins, The White Stripes, St Strokes, My Morning Jacket, Jason Mraz), recording their next full-length record, slated for release in April 2013. In the meantime, the digital deluxe edition of 'Would It Kill You?', loaded with new bonus material, will be available via iTunes on December 18th followed by a physical reissue & limited edition vinyl pressings at the beginning of 2013. See more details about the digital reissue at the http://oldfriendsrecords.com/ website |
crazy excited for this, WIKY? is still one of my favourite albums of the past few years.
way excited for everything involved with this
AWESOME.
Stoked on anything from them. That clip sounded electro-y, hopes raised very high.
I cannot adequately put into words how excited I am.
Hope the new stuff is more in the vein of Would It Kill You?
favorite band in the entire world, so stoked.
So they're re-releasing WIKY? on vinyl? I'm excited for that. I missed out getting it the first time around. I'm really excited for the new album too. 2013 is going to be a great year for music.
Nice! Their last album was amazing
excellent
I love the growth this band has shown.
AWESOME! PLEASE release something like WIKY
Great news
That clip has me very interested. Excited for this.
Hopefully this gives them the attention they deserve. Such a good band.
Wasn't a fan of their last record but I loved everything prior.

I'm with you. I respect the fact they've matured as musicians and songwriters, but I definitely prefer the electronic pop sound of their first two releases. |
Good for them and can't wait to pick up the vinyl in 2013.
Glad for them, don't really understand why they couldn't be on Fearless. I thought "Old Friends" was suppose to be for bands that don't fit the Fearless image, seems like this is a band Fearless would have signed in the past.
The new album is supposed to heavily groovy and soul/R&B influenced, supposedly. I think it'll be similar to WIKY, but taking them in a different path from that sound. I have super high expectations for it.

Yeah I know the last album was widely loved on here I just wasn't feeling the more indie sound to be honest. Quote:
I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels the same! I hope they bring the electronic pop sound back for a song or two on the new album but I guess that time has past! Last time I saw them live here in the UK they put on such a good show and the set list was a good mix of their old material and new. |
WIKY was the best best thing I've heard from them, so I am excited for new stuff. Hope this label gets some more cool bands signed(Hoping The Maine gets aboard as well!)
Yay!

*Passed. Sorry, but someone had to do it. So stoked for this. WIKY? was just a fantastic indie-pop release. Can't wait to hear this one. |
Never heard of this label before, and they seem to be the only band on it. I assume releasing music on their own label didn't work out from a financial point of view or something?

Damn iPhone typing! |
Awesome-the new songs they played on the Relient K tour sounded great!
I'm really excited to see what other bands Old Friends gets...I was expecting stuff I wouldn't really be into. I was wrong. |
One of my most anticipated albums for next year! WIKY was too good
Is Marro still in this?

Nice ice. Bring it on.

Can't wait for their new record. I already have Would It Kill You on vinyl but would love a physical copy of the live performances and bonus tracks. And come back to the University of Illinois. I had a great time when you guys played at the Canopy Club and my girlfriend loved the show and got hooked on your record!
Very cool first signing for the label

Hoping for an entire acoustic song on the next album. I will love anything they decide to do though.
Would It Kill You? was an awesome album, if I recall correctly it was my AOTY for 2010, so any new music from these guys is welcome :D
Awesome news. Awesome first or second signing? Can't wait for new Hello. Still spin Would it Kill You all the time.
Excellent.. Still listen to would it kill you? Alot.. Something you misplaced is probably my favourite album closer of all time

The fact that Hellogoodbye is dabbling towards M83 elements may have just kicked this up to my most anticipated for next year.

Stoked to hear new stuff from these guys. Loved their last record.
