The Wealthiest Lead Singers in Rock 'n Roll

A while back we posted a list of the 30 wealthiest drummers, and there's also a list of the wealthiest lead singers too.
Some Stand-OutsDave Grohl - 225 million
Gwen Stefani - 80 million
Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge - 60 million each
Billie Joe Armstrong - 55 million
Zack de la Rocha - 50 million
Chester Bennington - 25 million

They forgot to include Hayley Williams on this list, however, according to another article from the same site, she's worth around 8 million dollars. Fred Durst is on the list for having 8 million dollars (he's #84).

Grohl 11/16/12 11:55 AM

So de la Roche...fight the power?

suppyguppy 11/16/12 11:56 AM

Oddly enough I googled this yesterday. Thought it was a little surprising that the guys from Blink are worth more than Billie Joe.

SuNDaYSTaR 11/16/12 11:58 AM

Didn't know Rage were that wealthy.

RonStoppable 11/16/12 11:59 AM

The guys from blink are pretty into their businesses, not sure if Billie Joe is as much. That would help them be so high up.

Massive reunion tours

Chris Collum 11/16/12 12:00 PM

So wait...Travis is worth more than Mark & Tom? That drummer list had him at $85 million.

Also, kinda surprised Bruce isn't worth more than $200 million to be honest.

Holly HoX! 11/16/12 12:02 PM

Holy fuck Dave....

I'd be willing to bet they made the vast majority of their wealth pre-reunion.

Jason Tate 11/16/12 12:05 PM

Also, this makes me just wanna listen to Foo Fighters. Cause what a badass.

Oh, I definitely agree. But in terms of recent years up against Billie Joe, I'd imagine the percentage is greatly skewed in blink's favor.

Also, surprised Springsteen isn't worth more

georgedcc 11/16/12 12:05 PM

Were they not including rappers in this list?

Simulcast 11/16/12 12:08 PM

Zach de la Rocha - $50 million

lol

mr_raccoon 11/16/12 12:08 PM

Also missing from that list is Gerard Way with 28 million dollars

xsinkshipsx 11/16/12 12:08 PM

didn't realize jimmy buffet was worth that much, shit

.dot 11/16/12 12:09 PM

Surprised Hayley Williams is worth 8 million. I know Paramore is pretty popular, but it's not like they headline arena tours.

Frenizzle 11/16/12 12:10 PM

These numbers seem to be a bit inflated...

be mine 11/16/12 12:11 PM

This seems like FUZZY math at best.

Restaurants and Margaritaville products. Not to mention, he plays gigantic arenas like MSG.

saywhatever 11/16/12 12:13 PM

Some of these are surprising, like the Papa Roach guy.

TheRealJohnOC 11/16/12 12:14 PM

Good for Jacoby from Papa Roach making the list. I knew PR was popular but wow, good for him!!

Portugal4142 11/16/12 12:15 PM

Dave Grohl is still underpaid

What venues were they headlining a few years back? Always felt like that band was ginormous.

theherox 11/16/12 12:17 PM

super shocked by some of these

Blake Solomon 11/16/12 12:17 PM

is this per year? or total current fortune?

she's also been in some pretty big hits

AdamWASFearless 11/16/12 12:17 PM

Just to clarify: Their net worth doesn't necessarily mean liquid assets. I suspect most of that money is tied up in long term (10-30 year) bonds, and some real estate. Also, the article could be factoring in the intrinsic value of the brand to which they've built - much like owning the name Apple or McDonalds has value in and of itself.

it's gotta be their total worth, like as if they were to die and all their estates and contracts and whatnot were all put together on top of their current amounts and earnings

Thisisgoodbye 11/16/12 12:20 PM

impressive that Mark and Tom are worth that much, although I would have expected Tom to be worth much more.

Those numbers should shut the people up who think Blink got back together cuz they needed the money.

Last time I saw Paramore a few years back was at DeltaPlex in Grand Rapids, which can probably hold about 5K. I know when they headlined the Honda Civic tour in 2010 they played at Meadow Brook Music Festival for the Michigan date. Both Blink and Fall Out Boy played DTE music theater when they headlined, which is one of the biggest venues in MI.

suppyguppy 11/16/12 12:22 PM

Also surprised Bob Dylan isn't worth more.

iden22 11/16/12 12:29 PM

Fuck yeah Grohl.

Most recently, I've seen Paramore headline:

2012: Terminal 5 (3500 capacity, not sold out)
2011: Penn's Landing (10,000 capacity, not sold out)
2009: Hammerstein (4000 capacity, sold out)
2008: Convention Hall (4000 capacity, sold out)
2007: Starland (2500 capacity, sold out)
2007: Knitting Factory (400 capacity, sold out)

I've seen them a few times in other capacities like festivals, but those are their four most recent US headline tours.

They make a LOT more money overseas playing to thousands (and sometimes tens of thousands), and Hayley also makes a good amount independent of what the band makes. She's also probably a lot smarter with her money than a lot of other acts.

Nope, I think i'd be interesting to include all vocalists, rather than making a distinction (that isn't always clear cut) between singers and rappers.

ChaseTx 11/16/12 12:43 PM

Most big name rappers aren't that well off. The ones that are have a hand in a bunch of other business.

Just off the top of my head, Jay-Z is worth 450 million and P.Diddy is worth 550 million, that'd put them in the upper echelon of wealthy musicians.

Holly HoX! 11/16/12 12:48 PM

Why is this even being brought up ^

Just for the sake of argument?

If anything, the biggest sign validating your statement is that Scott Stapp is apparently worth $30 million.

Pretty much, ha. I'm not trying to be a dick about it. Like I said, I think i'd be interesting to include all vocalists, rather than making a distinction (that isn't always clear cut) between singers and rappers.

No big deal though.

Arry 11/16/12 12:54 PM

Don't they always exaggerate these numbers? regardless, making more than a mil is still ballin.

Which proves my point -- they're more than rappers (Diddy is hardly even a rapper). They're businessmen, with stakes in a lot of other big assets.

eriatarka24 11/16/12 01:11 PM

I love u Mark.

birdman 11/16/12 01:14 PM

Some of this list makes no sense. But I guess it's interesting.

Terminal 5, not sold out? You're crazy

Djentleman 11/16/12 01:18 PM

weird, thought Gwen makes more than Dave.
same with Hayley & Gerard
Steve Perry should be higher up, espcially above Billy Corgan
didn't know M. Shadows is worth 20 million, crazy!
Linkin Park seem like one of the biggest bands right now, didn't think Chester would be that low on the list

the honda civic tour was an arena tour, No Doubt's reunion tour was in arenas\amphitheaters
