Tilian To Record New DGD Album
 

Tilian Pearson will record vocals on the next Dance Gavin Dance record.

Going in to Rock Yourself To Sleep, I had serious doubts whether Tilian could pull off Jonny and Kurt songs.

I was totally blown away.

Sounds like the band is taking one last chance at legitimacy.

Of course the NYC DGD show is on Black Friday so I can't make it. He sounds like a great fit from a few YouTube videos I saw.

Saosin hasn't been relevant since 2006. Not to mention Justin was a complete douchebag to Tilian on the Sao Forums when they were still up to the point that the rest of the band had to apologize for him being a jerk.

And really, they have a sound that was unique back when they first rolled out in '03, but the rest of the post-hardcore scene caught up with them fast, but they didn't evolve as a band or as musicians. Translating the Name was awesome, and the Self-Titled was good, but after that, it became evident that they were sapped of creativity and had just become generic. Even the demos Tilian did with the band weren't all that fantastic, and it was obvious they didn't know how to accommodate Tilian's talent.

Tilian's voice is really unique, and I was very sad that he left Tides of Man in the first place to pursue Saosin, but I'm glad he's not going to be a part of it. I think DGD will be more willing to alter what they are as a band to accommodate Tilian as opposed to Saosin, and as such, are more willing to embrace change in order to become relevant again. Not to mention the solo stuff he's put out is really awesome. I'm very excited to hear their new stuff.

Interested in what Tillian could bring to the DGD sound.

Am I the only one who doesn't like Tilian's voice? It seems like bands that I like are making an effort to replace amazing singers with sub-par ones. He seems like a cool dude but Cove, Anthony and Jonny are all miles above this guy.

No idea what this joker sounds like and the last DGD album was complete balls so I have super low expectations for this.

Good, they could use some stability. As for my expectations, I'm not asking for much. I expect the instrumental to be no better than DBMII, which was okay at best. And hearing Tilian for the first time, he sounds pretty good and like he'd be a good fit, so at least that will be a cool change of pace. And Saosin is just irrelevant to this entirely.

Pretty much all this except I like Tilian's voice so I have mid expectations, not sure if it will fit tho. Saosin always sounds like a puchline to me tho.

This is so disappointing, I can't stand that guys' voice. Here's to hoping for good things from Matt Geise/Will Swan's project and Secret Band.

Can't wait, I didn't even know they were gonna do another one. This is one of the few bands in the scene that I enjoy, especially when Jonny Craig isn't involved.

This band is better when Jonny isn't around. And Tilllian has a great voice, so I have high hopes for this.

Awesome. Will be better than the albums with Jonny, but not as good as the ones with Kurt.

We'll see though. Both Kurt and Tilian killed it last night, though it was weird seeing someone other than Kurt sing his songs while he was in the building.

One of my favorite bands, and probably always will be. I love everything they've put out despite the drama so I'm looking forward to this.

Wasn't too impressed by the live videos, but if Mess is still involved.. I suppose I'm still interested. Wish Jonny wasn't such a waste, love his voice.

You're not alone. (No pun intended). I don't care for this guys high pitched whine at all. And honestly, anyone trying to call Saosin irrelevant and DGD great has a misconstrued vision of talent. Aside from Will and Jonny, everyone else involved with that band were/are sub-par musicians. And they will never reach a level that Saosin hit even if now they aren't as big.


Really, the hype behind this guy is too much.
