Rank the Albums: Poison The Well

Don't enjoy their older albums as much despite how much I respect them. They did a lot for the metalcore genre, but it's been done to death now a thousand times better. Here's hoping they come off their hiatus soon.

1.Versions
2. You Come Before You
3. I/II/III EP's
4. Tropic Rot
5. Tear From The Red
6. The Opposite of December

Wait... what? Unless I'm mistaken, this is cray cray talk.

Tear from the Red was amazing. I think i speak for many when i say "Horns and Tails" was totally underrated

I'd say I agree. I became a fan with the release of TFTR but I never could get really into TOOD. Well, moreso I stopped listening to it after the genre increased in popularity and more choices became available.

Here's my ranking (don't have I/II/III/IV)

1) You Come Before You
2) Tear From The Red
3) Versions
4) The Opposite Of December
5) Tropic Rot - only listened to this one maybe twice. I didn't give it enough time to appreciate it.
6) Distance Makes The Heart Grow Fonder

That statement couldn't be more wrong.

Metalcore spawned when hardcore punk bands crossed over with thrash metal, i.e. D.R.I. and The Suicidal Tendencies.

Other than these cross-over bands, the first wave of metalcore consisted of bands like Hatebreed, Integrity, Converge, Shai Hulud, Biohazard, Earth Crisis, and Rorschach. Late 80's - Early 90's.

Poison The Well plays more of a Melodic Metalcore, and definitely did not create the genre.

you come before you, tear from the red, opposite of december

Ya my bad I got real baked up before making this thread and was pretty much talking out my ass. Actually a few of those bands I didn't know predated ptw  haha. I guess melodic metalcore was more what I was going for but The Opposite is the earliest record I've heard that follows that standard metalcore formula. My bad I didn''t want to come off as an uninformed douche telling the world about my expertise. I'll have that edited. Interested to see your opinion on their ranking however.

I really liked Tear From The Red... I never got into much of their other stuff, but I never really gave it much of a chance so...

Check out You Come Before You , to me it's just an all round improved version of Tear From The Red

The Opposite of December will always be my favorite. But You Come Before You is probably their best.

My bad too. I probably sounded like an elitist douche informing the world about my all-knowing hardcore knowledge. Lol. Anyways.... I liked You Come Before You and Tear From The Red about equally and their other three releases less than that.

1. You Come Before You = Tear From The Red
2. The Opposite of December = Versions = The Tropic Rot

I haven't listened to them in a long time though. Maybe I should revisit this stuff.

You Come Before You
Tear From The Red
Versions
Opposite of December
Tropic Rot

haven't listened to this band in awhile but YCBY is such a massive album. I should pick up the reissues of their first two albums, my copies sound like ass
