AbsolutePunk.net Staff Compiled List

When putting together the overall AbsolutePunk.net staff best of list, I like to look back on the albums we anticipated earlier in the year. Out of the 57 albums we wrote about (why we stopped at 57 is strange to me also), 14 of them made our top 30. We also anticipated some albums for 2012 that won't be released till 2013 (Paramore, Tegan and Sara, Modest Mouse, and Relient K, to name a few), so we'll have to wait with bated breath to see if any of those makes this list a year from now. Anyways, as the Senior Editor of the site, I am very pleased with how our list turn out this year, although I shouldn't be surprised. I'll always champion our staff as the best staff on the planet - the diversity, intelligence, and general awesomeness of each member is reflected in this list. So without further delay, I present to you the best 30 albums of 2012 according to AbsolutePunk.net - DB

goddamn I love this list! Such a great year again for music. Let us know what you think about the list - what you agree with or what you disagree with?

Jack Appleby 12/31/12 05:30 PM

Definitely think this list represents our staff's eclectic tastes.
Personally glad to see Anberlin in the Top 10.

Alex DiVincenzo 12/31/12 08:32 PM

Very happy with this list. Great to see The Menzingers pull off the win. My #1 is never the staff #1.

Thomas Nassiff 12/31/12 11:26 PM

I'm really happy that Menzingers is our staff AOTY.

Jake Denning 12/31/12 11:46 PM

We have an a staff with varying tastes, and this list did a pretty good job at bringing those together. Can't say I'm a Taylor Swift fan, but obviously others do!

Only 3 albums that made my personal list, but there is a whole lot of other stuff on this list that I really enjoyed.

I love this list, lots of variety. Glad to see The Heist made it on there, too. Great year, everyone!

Jerold Sunga 01/01/13 07:32 AM

From all the AOTY lists that I have seen, this is, by far, the most diverse list that you can see. Great list!

bituin01 01/01/13 07:35 AM

This is really great. Half of the top ten wound up on my personal list as well, so that's cool too.

Alt-J is farrrrrrrr too low. /opinionatedrant

Good list though! A lot of records that I really enjoyed are up there.

Great list. Especially love seeing Misser and Make Do and Mend on it.

Cody Nelson 01/01/13 07:48 AM

Super, super glad that Taylor made this list. Adore that album.

Craig Manning 01/01/13 07:49 AM

Ten of these made my top 30 and another five were solid honorable mentions for me. Glad I could help boost Springsteen, The Killers, and The Tower and the Fool onto the overall.
