Andrew McMahon to Open for Fun's Winter Tour

How does Andrew McMahon kick off his solo career? By opening for fun.'s sold out winter tour.

Anthony Sorendino 12/12/12 09:22 AM

Awesome!

ACA 12/12/12 09:22 AM

Saw fun. open for Jack's Mannequin on two separate occasions (2008, 2010). Man, those are shows I'd like to see again. I'll never forget seeing fun. for the first time and watching them completely blow me away.. a trend that followed for four years.

If anyone has an extra for the NYC show in Radio City, send me a message.

Alex DiVincenzo 12/12/12 09:26 AM

Should have grabbed a Boston ticket when I had the chance.

larokr 12/12/12 09:28 AM

Now I regret not buying tickets when they went on sale. :(

EndlessPrisoner 12/12/12 09:29 AM

i now officially hate myself for not getting tickets. damnit. wasn't worth it to me before, can't imagine seeing fun. at a seated show for 50 bucks, especially with the same setlist as last time pretty much, but I want to see andrew again so badly.

herestoyoufla 12/12/12 09:29 AM

That is fucking sicccckkkkk!!!!!

EDIT: Might try to go to Atlanta...
Double Edit: Fuck, cheapest ticket is $85

First time I ever saw fun. was at the Gramercy in 08 opening for Jack's.

Bought a stubhub ticket last night for Radio City.

screamoutmyname 12/12/12 09:33 AM

i saw Something Corporate and The Format back in like 2004... sooo there's that.

zachff 12/12/12 09:36 AM

Putting aside how much the dynamics and people have changed in the past 10 years, I'm stoked for Andrew. This should expose him to a whole new audience.

tell that mick 12/12/12 09:42 AM

HOLY FUCK SHIT! I just got twice as amped to see Fun. at Radio City!

hiya 12/12/12 09:49 AM

I was already bummed about not getting tickets to the NYC show(literally sold out in 30 seconds) and now they have to add Andrew opening? ughh

irthesteve 12/12/12 09:50 AM

I saw Andrew and Nate both for the first time in 2003, The Format opened for Something Corporate. Since then I've seen both of them in different incarnations 15ish times each

combatchuckaa 12/12/12 09:57 AM

Fun

Chris Collum 12/12/12 09:58 AM

Anyone know if he's gonna have a touring band or go it alone?

Sweet, thanks

Searos 12/12/12 10:04 AM

I will try and see Andrew another time. Seen fun before. They were good live when I saw them but they will probably be pulling heavy from Some Nights which would not really interest me. Also when I do next see Andrew I wanna see him headline and have a good amount of time to do new songs as well as soco and jack's songs.

CavanaughPark 12/12/12 10:04 AM

The irony. I remember when Nate was "so honored" that Andrew had invited them to tour right after the Format broke up. Now Jack's Mannequin is done. Everything comes full circle.

I'm pissed that they announced it so late though and most of the tour is sold out. And also that there's no west coast dates even remotely close to me.

signal to noise 12/12/12 10:08 AM

yeah definitely returning the favor haha, i remember seeing Fun open for Jacks Mannequin in... 2008? very cool of them to have him open on such a huge tour.

jlinitz 12/12/12 10:28 AM

This is amazing

Ryan Gardner 12/12/12 10:36 AM

This is awesome. Need to find tickets

ghelms88 12/12/12 10:36 AM

Awesome. I just hate that the NY date was seated.

ohheroine 12/12/12 10:36 AM

Your soul is worth more than $85, lets be real. Just buy a ticket!

Haha, did you steal this headline directly from my tweet?

bladerdude360 12/12/12 10:46 AM

Sounds pretty cool, good for him!

dbowen 12/12/12 10:50 AM

I actually saw Andrew and Nate as they left the birthing canal. That means I've liked them longer than anyone.

I went to both of those tours, as well. I remember not even know who fun. was in 2008 and instantly recognizing Nate's voice as soon as they started playing. I think I preordered their album that night, even.

jdr277 12/12/12 11:20 AM

Lets see in 2006 I saw The Format open for AAR for like 20$, in 2007 saw Jacks Mannequin for 5$, and right before this past superbowl saw Fun open for NFG for free, sad I won't be able to go see these guys for cheap anymore.

fbrrocks 12/12/12 11:21 AM

i saw the format with the starting line open up for aar in 06 and Jack's open up for paramore in 2008

noodledancer 12/12/12 11:23 AM

Looks like I just got a little extra motivation to get this job in Portland!

schmalz 12/12/12 11:48 AM

Ugh need DC tickets for constitution hall... Sold out too fast

KenneyBN 12/12/12 11:48 AM

I saw a band play with another band once back in 2003 before the lead singer was in that band.

pleasedontask 12/12/12 12:07 PM

So pissed that Atlanta is already sold out, knew I should of gotten tickets before. Life's tough.
