great review Steve...I heard a few songs off this album and I think I'm going to have to check out the whole thing. I was never a huge DLD fan, but I absolutely LOVED their last album. If you're gonna revisit their work, I'd start with that one.

I enjoy Daphne Loves Derby however, I do agree with the point you made about DLD's attempt to try "so hard to keep this quiet sense of beauty...." I've seen them live once and it was one of the best shows I've attended--all of them were full of vigor and seemed really to enjoy themselves.

With that being said, what Kenny has managed with Wolftron is beyond words. It's masterfully exquisite and seemingly so simple as to make one wonder how such beauty can ooze so smoothly--but that's just it, it ISN'T simple. It's multi-layered in poetic illustrations and melodic meanderings.

I cannot wait until this album is in my hands.

As a fan of Daphne, I love Wolftron stuff. It is definitely different from Daphne stuff, so I could see how people would like this stuff more.

Plus any of you DLD fans. The last song on the Wolftron album "Simple Sunshine" makes a reference to "Debussie" if you guys didnt notice.

This is great stuff. Checked it out after the RIYL: Lydia....loving the 121% user review though haha.

dld is HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! ARGGHHHHHHH

"Hopeless?" There's no song on the album called "Hopeless" unless you mean "Happiness."

This was a great review, Steve, except for all that comparing to Copeland. I really don't understand why people compare the two -- they're nothing alike in sound. Kenny rarely does falsetto and there's no piano player -- the two key elements to make up Copeland.

As much as I hate to admit it, your DLD bashing intro was necessary for people to understand where you're coming from before you actually reviewed the CD. Well done, man. I am dead-on in agreement with you saying "Provocations of Spaceman Jr." sounds like Rookie of the Year -- it's my favorite track on the album.

P.S. I hope you give DLD one more chance. The next record should be a huge step up from past work. I've heard some new stuff (plus they're playing it on tour these days) and it sounds way different (better) from the typical music of their past records.

Amazing review.

I also love this album.

Yet, I also enjoy DLD a lot.

It's actually been a couple years now, and you have not reviewed a band highly that I did not go on to love. =)

Thank you.

Another great review-- and I might not have checked them out if you didn't include that introduction, because I feel exactly the same way about DLD.

I can't wait for this album. I love DLD, but I also love Wolftron.
Great review too. I'm actually glad that you admitted you're not a fan of DLD, but gave Wolftron a listening chance.

Great review. I'll have to check out Wolftron soon.

Thanks for the correction on the song title. It comes up wrong in my iTunes for some reason but you are definitely correct.

As for DLD, I am told their new stuff is going to be more along these lines, so I am interested for sure, and will give them another chance.
