Rise Records Signs Of Mice & Men

Rise Records has signed Of Mice & Men (former Attack Attack! front man, Austin Carlile).

Rise Records has become a joke.

sweetfootaction 02/05/09 07:57 AM

So according to that blog they have only been a "band" for 5 days. What is this label thinking?

pwnership 02/05/09 08:04 AM

Is this shit serious? Like seriously? Am I crazy?

That an old vocalist will produce a decent band.

6 days now. :-d

Young Machetes 02/05/09 08:08 AM

I'd assume this guy has ties to the label, because his project sucks. I like AA! though.

They've always been a joke, except for when they had Fear Before and Small Towns back in the day.

And what is with bands blatantly stealing names from books, movies, etc?

cory-182 02/05/09 08:12 AM

Oh snap!!

The Years Gone By!

Of Machiness 02/05/09 08:15 AM

this guy is the best screamer in todays scene

YoTengoRabbi 02/05/09 08:18 AM

Did this guy get kicked out of AA! for being a shitty person?
Why would Rise Records pick up his new band after being together for a few days?

Generic music is generic.

that was I was thinking....

Heart-A-Tact 02/05/09 08:23 AM

More shitty music? Thrilling.

Of Machiness 02/05/09 08:24 AM

its not shitty at all, find sum1 else that can scream like this austin can

nickyrayxnj 02/05/09 08:25 AM

For all who might not be aware of this... When you sign a record deal a lot goes into the contract. Most times in a contract there are stipulations where due to contact Rise gets first dibs on the previous artists new band. I, for one, am quite happy. Austin is a VERY talented person and a great friend of mine. I can't wait to see where this goes for him!

iamtaylorrr 02/05/09 08:29 AM

I dunno, I like. I love his scream.

Dirge07 02/05/09 08:31 AM

sounds almost just like his old band, but i guess that's to be expected. and after reading their blog, it's understandable why they're signed under Rise...

Of Machiness 02/05/09 08:34 AM

this album is guna take attack attacks album and shit all over it

the only reason attack attack is so big right now is because of austins screams on the cd. Half of attack attacks fans do not no that austin isnt in the band anymore. Fans are going to attack attacks shows and seeing their new fat screamer and thinking that it is the same person who screams on the record

so this is a huge wake up call to everyone

Yeah, they were one of the bands I was thinking about. I also enjoy the Emarosa album and Dance Gavin Dance Downtown Battle Mountain. DGD has really really fallen off.

I feel sorry for you and your preference in music if you think this is good.

Yeah, but this doesn't explain why Rise actually picked up on their option, especially:
A. Within a week after the band began.
B. For a band with a former vocalist of Attack Attack!

updownleftright 02/05/09 08:40 AM

hahahaha six days and a band can get signed, america is truly something else.

paulfisherisemo 02/05/09 08:45 AM

Of Machiness, you are an idiot

Tribute2Ben89 02/05/09 08:45 AM

I hate when bands use obvious references as their band names. Usually they make that name have a negative connotation.

why wouldn't Rise sign Austin? His old bad has sold over 12 THOUSAND RECORDS. Great news for Rise!

AndrewCloer 02/05/09 08:48 AM

They sound pretty much the same as Attack Attack!, just less electro maybe?

nah. He was good, not the best.

I like attack attack! as much as I fucking despise autotune.

cory-182 02/05/09 09:09 AM

I actually think Rise Records is one of my favorite labels for two simple reasons:

The Years Gone By and Breathe Carolina who both dominated my car/laptop/CD player......

Max_123 02/05/09 09:10 AM

kind of figured this would happen
there's nothing original there, if he wasn't the former AA vocalist they wouldn't get signed, period.

Max_123 02/05/09 09:11 AM

I suppose I tend to view it in terms of his old band being annoying and not being able to write a song in a key that isn't C# minor, but I can understand this point of view.

joe.boy.fresh. 02/05/09 09:34 AM

okay, am i the only one missing out on this,,,
when the FUCK did he leave attack attack! 0.o
now THIS is news to me.

This is what I was thinking...He's a decent vocalist though. And I still like AA! better.

Because he's a shitty person. He stole Settings equipment, denied it, and then threatened them with violence.

I'm in no way defending that but i was just voicing the business side of why he signed with Rise.
Akon throws kids off the stage, Michael Jackson hangs his kids out the window...Artists man, they do some crazy shit!

princesschad 02/05/09 10:31 AM

What a fucking joke.

Joe Lemble 02/05/09 10:35 AM

Sometimes I really wish book titles were trademarked and couldnt be associated with awful music.

tobuildabridge 02/05/09 11:11 AM

much better than aa.
beginning was kind of awkwardly timed though.
band name is dumb too.
contract obligation makes perfect sense.

It is probably a contract obligation....but honestly.....they aren't very good.

emilytrainwreck 02/05/09 11:50 AM

It's the same exact stuff that happened with Jonny Craig when he was dumped from DGD and couldn't joing A Skylit Drive and was forced to join a band that was already on the Rise roster or form a new band on Rise forcing him to join Emarosa.
