A great summation of the night's events, Jason. A few great performances, some horrible ones and some really annoying hosting, but the awards largely went to the right people.

Foo Fighters, Taylor Swift and Adele were the only parts i watched for really.

Swift was upstaged by the Civil Wars. During her performance I was wishing we would have gotten more of Barton Hollow.

Watching Justin give his acceptance speech... I think while what he says often has this elitest vibe to it (some of the stuff he said could easily be constured as being overly dimissive of the award and the grammys in general) his body language showed he wasn't actually really trying to be elitest, he was just in a state of shock. His face was all like "what the fuck they gave me a Grammy? what am I suppose to say?". I still think they should've played a song, but watching that acceptance speech I figure his reasons for not wanting to play (which were my biggest problem with it) just came across as douchey on paper but really he wasn't actually trying to imply his music was better than everything else. Either the guy is *really* good at acting or the whole so-indie-it-hurts vibe really is authentic and not just some marketing ploy.

*refrains from ranting about how mentioning how authentic you are by recording your album in a garage isn't really being authentic, especially if you lash out at computers but then play a song with Deadmau5*

Thanks for linking my post with the "Who is Paul McCartney?" screen grab, but credit goes to Buzzfeed. Even though I regard the Grammys as a joke, at least they continue to honor one of the most genuine rock bands still performing today, the Foo Fighters. Wasting Light was a good record, but I still believe their first three records are their best and they haven't been able to match that sound since. Dave Grohl and company remains one of the few respectable musicians still in the business today.

I still can't believe people don't know who Paul McCartney is. I'm 14. I know who he is. Then again, I listen to real music.
