Maybe it's that I live in Austin and people here are more accepting than most other places? I just found the article more rousing than informative, it called for action but it wasn't very concrete.
Edit: To his credit, he brings up a great rallying cry by calling people to put away their passivity on the issue; while I disagree that gay partnerships can be called marriages I completely stand behind him in saying that we need to stop allowing verbal and social abuse against someone who's made a different choice than yourself.
The line that startled me was this: "Do we want to indulge in rights that are not for everyone, particularly that of marriage?"
